hey everyone. im from california and am a black tar heroin user on a daily basis. i recently moved to georgia cause my family thought it would be better for me. is there any otc medication to help me get through withdrawels im not sure about the laws at pharmacys in georgia and if i can buy medication to make the withdrawels less intense. any advice would greatly be appreciated. thanks

Loperamide AKA ImmodiumAD will virtually ease withdrawal almost entirely if you take enough - but because it is in itself an opiate of sorts it will prolong the withdrawal, so use it sparingly.

yeah ive been taking thatquite frequently it doesnt seem to help its probably because im lonly on day 2 of withdrawel its just too intense. it sucks living in the us they treat you like you have a cold wen in reality its a hundred timesworse and any medical help is twice as expensive as my daily habit. its cheaper to be a junky sadly :(

A high enough dose of loperamide will eliminate any withdrawal. It's an opioid and as such will fill up those starving little opiate receptors in schmeegals brain.

Take it from a guy who was actually addicted to loperamide. For most the high is nothing special, but in wd's its a godsend.

But don't stay on the lope for long, or else you won't be detoxing and will simply be holding off the WD.

Also, MUSIC is an incredible aid in withdrawals. Its not a pill or powder, but I have always noticed that there are thousands of shitty symptoms during withdrawal and two good symptoms - Increased sex drive and music sounds way better.

As far as I know loperamide really can't cross the blood brain barrier so I doubt it does much on your CNS not that it doesn't help in the peripheral.

Kratom is OTC in North America and some people swear by the opiate action of dextromethorphan though it is usually used more for minimizing tolerance. Diphenhydramine is good for sleeping as well.

OTC stands for 'over the counter' and is what the OP originally asked about. To go on subs requires a prescription and supervising physician and are much more of an investment.

A small amount of loperamide does cross the BBB but enough is exported back across the BBB by P-glycoprotein that at therapeutic doses, there isn't any appreciable CNS activity. In supratherapeutic doses, enough crosses the BBB and is not exported back (taking P-glycoprotein inhibitors can also increase this) to produce central opioid effects.

In much larger doses (anywhere from 10-100mg depending on the size of the habit) loperamide can stop most of the symptoms of withdrawal... many people get very little euphoria but effects on pupils, sedation and cessation of the withdrawal effects do suggest central activity.
