Well don't hate the cartel, hate the system.
The Mexicans who can sneak over to the USA do, and most have to try multiple times and pay $tens of thousands, only to live as an illegal for the rest of his or her life.
Other Mexicans stay home and live off of the USA's massive demand for drugs. Much competition between gangs or cartels exists, and the most ruthless cartels control the game. Hence the mass killing of innocents. And most people working for the cartels are not rich. There are plenty of great-grandmothers who smuggle drugs across the border for maybe a hundred dollars at a time if they are lucky.
It is crazy what these Mexicans are doing to try and keep themselves and their children out of poverty, eh?
