Going clean isnt exactly the easiest thing to do, and adding in family/life drama is leaving me more depressed than ever. normally it was the occasional blue feelings but now its every day and it blows. i need your helps guys. 8(

been doing cardio 4x/week minimum for the past 2 weeks (around 8-10 miles, like hour + long runs leaving me feeling great) but after the runners high wears off i feel like crap again.
i am trying to eat right, eating habits arent as good as i'd like but im working on em.
if it matters im going clean from:
-MDMA once a month
-Adderall (EVIL!!!) 3x/week for like 2-3 months:| (not prescribed)
-methylphenidate (concerta high dose) 2x/month for 2 months
-caffeine/phenethylamine/OTC stims everyday the past 6 months:(8(

i just feel like anxiety/depression that makes my stomach churn more than a few times a day, the rest of the time its just emotionless. anyone got any reccomendations/experiences with herbs/OTC supps that helped them out?

right now im finishing up a St. Johns wort bottle & some SAM-e (s-adenosylmethionine) that have helped only a little. bought some Mucuna Pruriens n 5HTP today but any and all help/advice is appreciated guys :\

Well, I'd think taking out all of the stimulants out the equation(including mdma) would be a wise decision. I'm also in a similar predicate with my anxiety and have thought about giving 5-htp a try. I remember thinking it had some effect while I was still using drugs and smoking weed everyday so god knows if it really did any good. I know what you mean about how exercise is cool and everything but I've yet to notice any lasting effects... maybe we just haven't gotten there yet? I've been taking a multivitamin every day recently and since I don't eat much and not really that healthy, it should be a nice addition to everyday life.

I'll tell you this from experience: the exercise won't start really working on you until after a month or so. It's when I started noticing the effects that I really had to keep pushing to do more; many people will start to see muscle definition or start to feel more "normal" after pretty regular exercise, and then they'll stop, thinking their problem's over. Keep at it and I have no doubt you will feel some definite changes - I wouldn't go so far as to call them "results," because results don't happen for years sometimes, but there will be definite changes.

I can firmly attest to the success of clean living in restoring at least some of the body's natural healing capabilities, also. Every little bit helps. As far as supplements go, other than eating foods high in protein and medium-chain good fats, you could consume a few cups of green tea throughout the day for the l-theanine. You could technically take a supplement for every amino acid and nutrient you may be lacking that produces this anxiety, and it could help you out, but in the end you're still medicating for a deficiency. Just properly feeding, hydrating, and exercising yourself (which it sounds like you're starting well with) helps you figure out where you need the supplement and how much, because you do start learning to listen to your body's demands. It's kind of like listening to your car's engine when the vibration changes just a touch, so you can figure out if something's really wrong or if you've just run over an uneven patch of road.

Hope that helps. Keep up the good work!

edit: For immediate anxiety relief from drama/stress, it really helps to have a private spot you can go to with some headphones and a book or something. The only natural way to relieve acute stress/anxiety is to remove yourself from the situation, at least temporarily. Not always imminently plausible, but the sooner you get away from a stressful spot, the quicker your body will recover from it. It's just nature. =D
