Hi, i've read this forum sporadically for assorted advice over the last few years but never held an account or posted until now. I was hoping to get some advice about drug combinations with respect to study leading up to an exam. For the sake of expediency, i will list what i currently have available to me before continuing.
- Dexamphetamine
- Armodafinil (Waklert)
- Alprazolam (Xanax)
- Diazepam (Valium)
- Atenolol (Tenormin)
So for background, the Dex and Waklert are the two i take regularly for study (and quite successfully). However, I have a history of performance/exam-related anxiety that usually develops in the days/weeks preceding. In the past, i have tried Valium (which unfortunately impairs my exam performance) and Xanax (which goes one further and just puts me in a stupor). So obviously, neither are acceptable options for exam-day anxiety. For the record, these problems with anxiety are long-established and prevalent prior to my commencement of Dex use and have not noticeably worsened by my own estimation.
I have now been prescribed Atenolol, for which MIMS lists a Dex interaction of corresponding reduction of effect for each, albeit undocumented. However, by my rationale, as a selective b1 antagonist, the Atenolol should be able to alleviate the symptoms i get on exam day (performance anxiety; namely, hypertension, tachycardia, sensation of panic etc. that interfere with my performance) without interfering with the CNS stimulation from the Dex. (which aids my performance). Unlike other non-selective BBs (such as Propranolol), Atenolol does not cross the blood-brain barrier and should (theoretically) preserve the Dex CNS stimulation whilst alleviating the anxiety i described by lowering BP, HR etc.
Can anybody comment on my admittedly amateur assessment of how this might play out. I'm not an expert and i'd like to hear if there are any glaring interactions i've failed to account for, or if there are other suggestions/recommendations so i can be more confident i'm not doing anything unsafe. I would really appreciate some assistance.
