Hello BL!

Its been a while since I have come to you guys, however I wanted some advice/knowledge about shrooms.

I have a friend who has recently (Sunday) had a seizure in his sleep which wound him up at the hospital. Prior to that (the Thursday right before) he had taken extacy. Now I think he is planning to take shrooms tomorrow.

I am trying to find more information on how shrooms work and how they can affect him in case he does decide to take them, so I can let him know any risks he might be taking due to his recent hospital visit. Any information or advice from those experienced with shrooms is greatly appreciated (I personally have never done them but want to eventually; just hasn't been right for me yet).

Thank you in advance BL!

psycadelic drugs can trigger siezures in people who are prone to them.
i have also firsthand experienced lsd triggering a siezure in one of my close friends who had never had a siezure before in his life.
your friend should definitley take this into consideration, and if he chooses to proceed, do so with supreme caution and at least some level of supervision.
good luck

I've never experienced this, but definitely make sure he's not alone at any point in the trip. Also, let him know you're just watching out for him beforehand to make sure he stays safe (because you care).

This sounds a little risky to take another substance before he gets his seizure problem sorted out, but if he's dead set on doing it. Make sure he'll be with someone.

I'd also suggest he do no driving the entire time, even to drive himself home on the comedown if that's what you are planning.

Mushrooms can cause brain zaps (thread about it) and seizures just like ecstacy can. The mechanism is different but the system in question is the same: serotonin.

I've never encountered information suggesting that this potential effect of mushrooms is particularly dangerous to survival, but it can be quite unsettling. Therefore it's not immediately stupid to move on to mushrooms, though if his seizure threshold appears to be low naturally then it might end up uncomfortably.

If he ends up wanting to experiment, let him start out slow with mushrooms.

Thank you all so much for all of your information and advice! I will be sure to pass this thread along for his knowledge. <3
