Opioids Advice Needed w/ Oxycontin

Hello, I would first like to apologize if this has been covered. I have spent the past hour searching for my answer and couldn't find anything.

For the past couple years I've been on Lortab 7.5/500's. I take 2 them 3x a day. Well recently I've been hurting much worse than normal so I've had to take more:X. So now I am out with a week to go till the refill. My father gave me some Oxycontin (OP 10 I think they are labeled). I have no experience with these so I just took one last night. It knocked me out within 30min. I hate this! At least with the Lortabs I still get a slight euphoria and feel 100% better.

Well this morning I woke up at least 3hrs earlier than normal cuz I just couldnt sleep anymore. Sweating and restless legs:( We all know what that is! I would think that taking the Oxycontin I wouldnt go through this but I am.

How many and how should I take of the Oxycontin to acquire the same result as my Lortabs??

Scripts I am currently on:

Wellbutrin - Taken 3x a day 100mg each.
Prozac - Taken once a day 2x 20mg capsules.
Nexium - Taken once a day 40mg capsules.
Lortabs - 2x 7.5/500 3x a day. Even though I am out.
Xanax - I get 60 .5mg pills but I do not take them unless I have a serious panic attack....
 
If you're taking 45 mg of hydrocodone per day (6x 7.5/500 Lortabs), I would think you'd need about 30mg Oxycodone (3x 10 OPs) to get an equivalent daily dose.

are prozac and wellbutrin not cross-indicated?

and the difference between hydrocodone and oxycodone, for some, is nil....you'll need at least 35-40mg of oxy to get close to equating the dose of hydro
 
Thanks everyone for the replies. Hmm so I'm just not taking enough thats why I'm still feeling bad. I'm going to take 2 of the Oxy's tonight and see if that makes me feel better. Although I did read on BL that this particular pill is a ER which differs from the Lortab that hits you much sooner. So I wonder if this is just not for me. I just need to get through till I get my refill and then I'll be fine.
 
Although 30-35mg does seem to be equivalent, you were taking 15mg of hydrocodone 3 times a day. That's 15mg instant release. The OP formulation oxycontin is an extended release preparation of oxycodone. I believe they changed the extended release duration to 12 hours as opposed to the original 8 as well. So that's roughly .8mg oxycodone every hour for 12 hours (assuming they're 10mg Oxycontin). In comparison to 15mg instant release hydrocodone, that won't be nearly the dose for relief in your case. My suggestion would be to get around the time release as best as you can and then dose accordingly. can you still get ethex generic oxycodone ER tablets that are the old (good) ones? or any other manufacturer even?

Some people (me included) are randomly plagued with a plethora of medical conditions for no reason. I personally have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (inherited from dad), bipolar (grandad), anxiety/paranoia (grandma), and Ankylosing Spondylitis (caused by IBD). I'm 17 years old and I personally take more pills a day then any person (including seniors who eat prescriptions for 15 minutes for breakfast) i have ever met. I deffs know the shitty situation your in bro.

OT: if your dose of hydro is 15mg 3x daily try taking 10mg oxy 3x daily instead of just once or twice, it would give you more of an equivalent dose.
 
I'm sure this will not help the OP at this late date but I am am AS sufferer, & was on oxycontin. My rhuematologist told me when he first scripted it to me that a Dr calculates the dose by taking the total combined amount of immediate release opiate medication use in 12 hours & divides that by half. That should be the dose of OC needed. So for instance if a person takes 10/325 immediate release oxycodone 3 times per day the total amount of oxycodone is 30 mg. Divide that in half to get 15mg. So 15 mg would be the dose that a Dr would start you at for oxycontin. Has anyone else been given this same info? I did do a google search & found the same formula so I hope I am correct.
 
Not to sure but more than one as you have just found out for yourself lol? Just keep upping the dosage my friend WISELY though.
