Hey guys I just moved to charleston. Got back into opiates due to severe depression.thinking of going to get suboxone. I had 3 of them 3 years ago. Took me 1 week and I was free of opiates. Any advice ? Worried about going to the doctor due to a very ugly divorce I am about to go through. All advice welcomed.

hey there its hard to judge what you would want to do with out more info on your abuse of opiates. it all kinda depends on how sever your habit is and how long you have been using. Suboxone is a very powerful drug and if your habit inst that bad you may want to just try and get some OTC meds and just try to stick it out with wds. if it only took you 3 subs last time to get off i am judging that your habit isn't that bad. I recently just got on subs and my doctor prescribed a astronomical amount he has me taking 24mg a day!! which i think is just plain crazy i told him to get me down to 16 then 10mg and so on. He wants me to Waite a few months at 24mg. I could see this being a problem if your habit is not that big. Coming off subs takes longer than most opiates. i hope this some what helped you i am new to this form and am trying my best with what experience i have so far with my recovery/sobriety. I hope you figure something out that works for you.

Yeah. I second the dosage thing. If they put you on a dose which is higher than your current tolerance, it is just ensuring more downregulation of your opioid receptors and the likelyhood that you will struggle with opioids for life. I demanded to be kept at a dose that didn't fully hold me and the transition was uncomfortable at the start but will be well worth it in regards to my future as it will be easier to come off. This way it holds you, forms the blockade but also doesn't get you high and allows you to feel emotions to the fullest extent. It doesn't pacify mental health issues or numb you so you can actually face recovery head on with support from suboxone. In this way it also allows you to produce hormones such as testosterone which wouldn't happen on methadone or other full agonists. Having your sex drive back will help with finding fulfillment in life. I can go on and on but this is definitely important to address.
