So I went in to the orthopedic surgeons office this morning, due to the pain in my lower lumbar, as well as my neck and my thorasic vertebrae, getting much worse. The downside to all of this, is that the orthopedic surgeon is referring me to a pain management specialist, which I'm actually excited about, however I had cannabis in my system, and I'm in a very cannabis unfriendly state. I'm sure everyone here knows that's been to a P.M. Specialist, that they automatically do a U.A. before they even see you. Which will be a huge problem, since in the eyes of the state that I live in, I will have an "illegal drug" in my system. Even though the methadone clinic I'm on at the moment doesn't care about the pot in my urine, I know the P.M. will have issues with this. I guess my question to everyone, and anyone here that may be able to give some advice as to what y'all would do in my situation, how would you handle it, or if you've had this type of problem what you did to not have the P.M. Specialist turn you away? Please, anyone that can help, it will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The best thing I can advise you to do is quit smoking weed for now. My experiences with pain management doctors is they have to answer to the DEA and that's their reason for drug testing patients. You shouldn't attempt to go in there if you will test dirty. Ask yourself what's more important, getting treated for your pain or smoking weed? Some doctors, like your methadone clinic, may not care so much. But don't take that chance, it's important to make a good first impression.

I like pot to manage most of my aches personally. In the same note, when I hurt my lower back and hips, which is happening more and more as I get older smoking seems to be a little unproductive. I smoke and it eases the pain, but I cough and it brings it back as strong or stronger than before.

My pain doctor would flag me & kick me out if I had weed in my system.

Reason why they test you before you start is to make sure you don't have any non prescribed drugs in your system. After that, they may periodically test you to make sure you don't have any other drugs & also to make sure you have the meds they prescribed for you in yoursystem.

Since you live in an unfriendly weed state, I highly suggest you quit asap & you can't go into the pain doctors office until its out of your system.

Last thing you want is to be flagged. Once you have that on your record, not good.......

We're not here to advise you on such matters. I am sure you got some answers in. CLOSED. Please read the BLUA and OD guidelines.
