adverse reaction to poppy seed tea? or opiates in general?

I'm new here and I see lots of conflicting statements surrounding the use of SWIM. I'm not going to use it because it's useless. Please correct me if wrong. Here goes.

So my friend likes to experiment with drugs. He's only had bad reactions in a few incidences. Once he took a mystery crystalline drug orally which he was told was molly. He is skeptical, as you never really know what people sell people these days. He got high for a few hours, but the next day he could not stand up for five seconds without fainting or puking. He had to lay down to avoid lightheadedness or nausea. This feeling lasted about 16 hours.

Last summer he tried making poppy seed tea. It worked well for him and he had pleasant effects. This summer he tried again, this time from a source that did not claim to be organic. The tea tasted more bitter, one sip made his heart jump. He felt mellow and drowsy for hours. Shallow breathing. Then after several hours, he experienced the lightheadedness/nausea/vomitting combination. This lasted for several hours. My friend never uses opiates. This is a weird reaction and he is desperately curious for an explanation as he cannot find one on the web. Is this dangerous? Any thoughts?

You can refer to yourself as I on Bluelight. Opiates/Opioids are known to cause nausea and vomiting. Maybe you have a weak stomach.

Yeah this is the first time I've had this reaction to the tea. So it is possible that this latest batch was very strong? Could it have had different amounts of alkaloids and whatnot that contributed to my strange sickness? I always get high for a few hours before I get sick and that doesn't match with the stories I find of other people getting sick from opiates or this tea..

I've had plenty of times where I took a bit too much, got high for a few hours, and then got sick. Not with poppy seed tea, but with other opiates (almost always after oral administration). Try a low-dose potency test on your next batch (just drink a little) and try to manage your dosages from how that makes you feel. It is possible you got a stronger product this time; it's always possible unless you're using pharmaceuticals.

Okay so my experience is not so abnormal. I will be more careful about how quickly I dose in the future. I was very careful with the batch that made me sick, I took tiny sips every few minutes. Who knew it could be so strong. Thanks for your fast replies. Also, I will use post to Basic Drug Discussion from now on with questions like these.
