Not sure if this belongs in OD, but here goes...
My New Year's resolution is to finally quit smoking after 14 years of heavy use. I got my hands on some Chantix to aid the struggle and was wondering if anyone has had any health issues with combining any opiates or coke with the medication. I wouldn't be doing the opiate and the coke at the same time.

I used the search engine, but could only find info on benzo reactions.

Varenicline 2D structure.

Varenicline is a nicotinic receptor partial agonist. In this respect, it is similar to cytisine and different from the nicotinic antagonist, bupropion, and nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs) like nicotine patches (commonly, "the patch") and nicotine gum. As a partial agonist, it both reduces cravings for and decreases the pleasurable effects of cigarettes and other tobacco products, and through these mechanisms it can assist some patients to quit smoking.

There should be no interaction with opioids.

You might run into an issue with cocaine, as varenicline might block some of the pleasurable effects. FWIW this drug is currently being clinically tested to reduce cravings in cocaine dependence.

I did Chantix for 10 weeks, was given $100 by my University to quit as they were moving to a non-smoking campus.

Shit worked excellent. Not one cigarette since May 2009. I still use tobacco paper to roll blunts or rather these days synethetic cannabinoid blends but I haven't had a cigarette or a puff of tobacco since.

I never did cocaine on it, but frequently smoked pot, took opiates, psychedelics (mushrooms, LSD and N,N-DMT) and benzos on it. I'm not a stimulant guy anyhow

TBH: All warning effects aside, the only side effect I had was vivid dreams for 2 nights. I'm NOT the most stable person in the world and had 10 weeks of opportunity to jump off a 22nd story (actually 40 stories but I live on floor 22) building. I had no suicidal thoughts or depression or any of that. Was SHOCKED.
