adrenaline...

i have a potentially fatal allergy to nuts and so i have to carry around an adrenaline pen with me. these pens last for one year, after which they go off and i get issued a new one. my current pen is about to run out in one month, and i was wondering if i could use it to get high, seeing as it's only going to be thrown away anyway.
i figure as long as i take it before it goes off it should be okay.
does anyone know what the correct dosage of adrenaline would be, or if it's a spectactularly stupid idea? (in which case i won't do it)

I remember reading smothing about someone messin w/ an epinephrine pen, but the results sucked. Try a search or somethin...

adrenaline is responsible for many more physical effects than mental effects
by the time you reached any recreation you would be squirming uncomfortably with a racing heart and sweating, minus much euphoria if any

I can only echoe the thoughts of the channel, yourself and fairnymph: Spectacularly Stupid !
You don't get a high from it ! But you get all the risks of adrenergic stimulation on the cardiovascular system: ie massive hypertension, tachycardia and often lethal ventricular arrhythmias.
You don't get these when you have an anaphylactic reaction because of the contradictory effects of the mediators which cause the reaction: namely IL1, IL5, TNF, Histamine, Tryptase etc - all cause vasodilation and cardiac depression - The adrenaline in this case helps to stabilise the mast cells and counteract these effects.

You definitely won't get a buzz and if you inject too much (esp. when you aren't going into anaphylactic shock which causes your blood pressure to fall dramatically), then you might even give yourself a stroke or go into cardiac arrest.
I used to get allergy shots and the serum would leave a lump at the injection site (back of my upper arm). So the nurse started drawing a small amount of epinephrine into the syringe using a new needle and then pushing it back out so that only the needle had a layer of epi in it. And even though only a really small amount of epi was being injected along with the serum, it was usually enough to increase my heart rate and give me palpitations (also kind of fidgety and nervous). I told the nurse about it, and she said they don't even do that with older people and people with cardiac problems because a small amount is absorbed. Anyways, when you aren't in shock, even small amounts of epinephrine are noticable and larger amounts WILL send your blood pressure through the roof.
