Forever stuck in eternity
I have a aunt who has Bi-polar depression (quite severe). I've taken my share share of miss lucy, had a 3 month period where i was frying every weekend, Although it lost its magic by the third month... Well i found out about my aunt, and was a little concerned about mixing lsd with a slight family history of bi polar so i used google and did a bit of research and turns out ADHD could be a "precursor) to dignosis of Bi-Polar later in life. Which i also have the privilege of having.

from wiki:
"There are several childhood precursors in children who later receive a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. They may show subtle early traits such as mood abnormalities, full major depressive episodes, and ADHD"

Had a couple full on depressive states (over nothing) that'd last for 5 hours or so when i got really drunk, but this only happened when i went from smoking around a gram of weed a day for about 6months to cold turkey.

So I've eaten a fair bit of acid already and haven't gone permanently flippy or acting like Jim Carey just yet. But does anyone believe i'm seriously gambling with my mental health? Or have known someone with a similar problem or what not.

I was being considered for bi-polar at one stage and was medicated with antipsychotics. I had mania and psychosis triggered by SSRIs, but not LSD. Marijuana causes me a lot of anxiety though and has once triggered delusions.

Everyone is different though in how they react to substances though. How old are you? If you are in your 30's already then you are out of the high risk group for developing bi-polar (if I remember correctly).

I wouldn't want to say that you are safe and should continue using psychedelics; having a family member who has been diagnosed with the disease is definitely a risk factor. If you haven't developed anything after heavy use you may be OK, but who knows... a traumatic experience could trigger it.

Yeah, there are alot of factors involved. as Mr. Blonde asked, how old are you?

The good news is that she is your aunty, and the risk increases the closer the relative is to you. ie. it would be much riskier if it was your mother or father, rather than your aunt. Anyone else in your close family with a mental illness?

BTW, those depressive episodes when your drunk I'm pretty sure don't count as they are caused by being under the influence of booze. If you have a real depressive episode you will know about it.

I would take it easy on the acid. Every week is too much, regardless of the person. Just keep it to special occassions and respect your limits. this will put you in a better place in reducing harm and the possible risk of psychosis/bi polar.

Mr. Blonde: I swear SSRIs made me kind of manic for the first two weeks. Probably more hypomanic. was fun, but kinda crazy at the same time.

Yeah it was cool at first but became pretty bad. It was during high school and I completely flipped out and ruined my grade. I started having weird religious delusions as well, that I was the savior of Israel and the teachers were trying to suppress me because they were Catholic and I would prove their religion wrong. I kinda wish I could read some of the assignments from back then, fuck they must have been crazy.

It's funny too and kinda sad, that none of the staff at the school picked up that something was seriously wrong with me. Before this I had been quiet and introverted, didn't make any trouble and kept to myself and suddenly was ranting and raving and running out of classrooms and trying to start riots (literally). My best friend was the only one who knew something was fucked up, if it wasn't for him who knows where it would have ended up.

This is true; a depressive episode that lasts weeks or months is what occurs mostly with bi-polar. There are apparently some people who 'rapid cycle', but that is considered somewhat controversial as I understand it.

Also, with the ADHD in children leading to bi-polar; I will have to look into that but it may actually be manic episodes being misdiagnosed as ADHD when the patient is younger.

I'm 18 at the moment, so yeah well in the danger zone. I've only had one really traumatic trip experience, it was sort of self inflicted, i hadn't slept properly for a few days and id been spacing my kiddy speed out to keep me awake and then i got hell sunburned during the day and had the bright idea of taking a high dose late at night and 3 hours into the trip someone accidentally put on www.neave.com/television It was completely fucked, had thoughts of punching into my mates/killing them or killing myself and i ended up smashing my phone and throwing my wallet along with the top half of my clothes at my mate and running off for about 3 hours. I eventually managed to pull my self out of that silly loop but i imagine that's what psychosis/a manic episode would be like (thinking aliens created religion in order to stop humans from taking drugs, killing themselves and ascending to "a higher plane of existence", all while grinding my teeth sitting outside a hungryjacks at 3am in the morning...)

Can I ask, why do you call dosing LSD frying? If I were you, I'd be more concerned about the amounts of either thc or meth are going into your system. You probablyhave a far greater chance f psychosis or obtaining a bipolar state through them.

Im not to sure, kind of a geographical colloquialism i spose? Me and my mates would usually say fry or fried to describe when we're really out of it, on pills, speed or tabs.

For a fair few hours during a trip, i feel surges of energy and usually shake and cant keep still, eh kinda hard to explain, like Ive smoked a half weight and my legs will jiggle up and down, even when standing. So it's (in my opinion) a fry of a sort... if that makes any sense?

115 days without THC now, and very small doses of meth for educational uses (a 10th of a point per study session, if that even). So mostly safe in that area haha.

I had a manic reaction to a combination of Cymbalta and Zyban, in which i was grandiose/couldn't sleep/aggressive for a good 4-5 days. I was then stabilized on a, wait for it, mood stabilizer called Epilim.

I too have a severe case of untreated ADHD-Inattentive subtype.

I'm fine nowadays except the protracted withdrawal syndrome/withdrawal symptoms of benzodiazepines, which results in intense physiological and psychological consequences.

Bi-Polar disorder ain't hereditary bro. It's the result of biological changes in one's brain, ergo, resulting in the genetic predisposition factored rendered useless.

That doesn't even make sense, and there is a significant genetic/familial component.

^ Mr Squiggle is from the school of 'throw lots of jargon and big words in to make your sentences more academic even though it doesn't make sense and you can't explain what you have just said when asked for clarification'.

Popcosmopolitanism combined with the abnormally prolonged use of ones vitreous humor can lead to a cataclysmic differentiation of the density of fecal matter in said individual? Too much flippy dip do some might say.

Oh my ADHD isn't untreated, I don't see how anyone who is untreated can function in a job or at school/uni without those beloved neurotransmitters.
