Judging from the article's comments, there are a lot of members of the NYT's liberal audience that are prohibitionists. No wonder the pace of reform is so slow.

The American left is soooo wishy-washy and watered down that they may as well be conservative.

The liberals are as bad as the conservatives. The only difference is that most conservatives believe that the unborn have rights, and that homeowners have the right to keep and bear arms to protect their family and their household. Most liberals don't. However, liberals are also usually prohibitionist. The liberals these days aren't all that far off Nazis, if you want to believe that. Support abortion rights with enormous passion, but fuck off the gun owners and let armed thugs break into people's homes and let the homeowners fist fight a bunch of armed thugs.

Hey, that makes sense in this "new modern world". Nowadays, the unborn and your average citizen are now at the mercy of someone else who thinks their rights are more important than someone else's.

In this regard, the liberals are in fact WORSE than the conservatives. However, prohibitionists, REGARDLESS of whether they're liberal or conservative, really piss me off because they just refuse or fail to understand the topic at hand.
