ive been on 30mgs of adderall for 7 years in the bay area

ive moved to costa rica, i will be staying here for 7 months....

no adderal available in costa rica..

then i will move to london where it is available

will my tolerance go back down to zero..?

or is it life long?

Amp tolerance is a biiiiitch in the long run. Even more so when abused which it usually is. After 7 months you should see a good difference. But i hear it can take years for tolerance to be gone.

There's two types of tolerance to Adderall (or any other mind-altering substance) that need to be taken into consideration.

The first is acute tolerance, or requiring to escalating doses when using Adderall for consecutive days. It is my understanding that acute tolerance is caused by a combination of the depletion of dopaminergic neurons, sleep deprivation, and inadequate nutrition.

The second, and more permanent type of tolerance, is long-term. This is actually the physiological adaptation of the body to the presence of the substance. Unfortunately, this tolerance may take years to decrease, and even then, it can return in full force with repeated exposure to the compound.

All things considered, a 7 month break will certainly both acute and long-term tolerance, obviously the former more than the latter. Your first couple of days resuming Adderall should be quite enjoyable.

i didnt abuse it.

it's my medication

30mg a day for 7 years

I never said you did.

Your body will adapt to the presence of Adderall regardless of whether or not you are taking it recreationally or for medicinal reasons. The main difference is that recreational doses tend to be escalating doses so tolerance builds up faster.

I was prescribed Adderall myself for quite some time and noticed I was significantly less likely to abuse it when I had a full bottle.

And even if you're taking it for legitimate reasons, it can still be fun.

I know this is an old thread, but I have a specific question about acute tolerance to Adderall, and this is the only place I have seen this distinction mentioned. Is it possible to reverse acute tolerance by taking a break from the medication and supplementing with magnesium glycinate and l-tyrosine? If so, how long of a break would be recommended, and how often?

I have been on Adderall previously (legitimately) for periods of a few months each and don't remember experiencing any problems with tolerance. I just went back on it two weeks ago, and this time, I had to increase my dose from 20mg originally to 50mg to achieve any effects. As soon as I hit 50mg the other day, I realized I was scaring myself and stopped taking the drug. I don't want to abuse it, I just don't understand why I developed a tolerance so quickly this time.

I also take 350mg Lamictal, 160mg Geodon, 200mg Zoloft, and occasionally 0.5-1mg Klonopin. I also take a B-complex and flax seed oil. The previous two times I was taking Adderall, I believe I was on 125mg Lamictal and 80mg Geodon.

I was thinking of taking a 5-day break, and I have started taking 400mg magnesium glycinate at night and 1000mg l-tyrosine in the morning. Any advice would be appreciated!
