When are the best times to use Magnesium/DXM (in relation to the adderall dosing) in order to get the most out of their NMDA receptor-antagonizing properties? I realize that taking a break is the best/healthiest way to reduce tolerance, but would taking the DXM/Mag (not considering it's health benefits) be worth it during one? Any insight would be appreciated.

And if anyone has some time to kill and is willing to sort out my (mis)understanding of what causes adderall tolerance then that'd be great.

From what I understand, amphetamines increase the concentration of calcium ions which then pass through the NMDA receptors and into the neurons, causing tolerance. I believe that I read somewhere that they make it harder for the (serotonin, dopamine, etc?) neurotransmitters to connect to their respective receptors by binding to it first. NMDA receptor antagonists deactivate the NMDA receptors, reducing the flow of calcium ions into the neurons, and allowing the neurotransmitters to better do their job.

Now some questions regarding all that:
Do amphetamines actually increase the production of calcium ions, or does its vasoconstrictive properties just cause them to be squeezed/concentrated towards the NMDA receptors (like a tube of toothpaste)? If it's the latter, then would taking aspirin help prevent tolerance? Does this mean that taking a lot of calcium with amphetamines is bad, or is calcium and its ions unrelated? Thoughts on 5-HTP? I've read that it causes EMS

As for the best times to take Magnesium, first off you want chelated magnesium glycinate as your source of magnesium and on days you dose I recommend taking it 30 minutes or so before you dose and taking one with every re-dose although I advise against re-dosing amphetamine as this will just create a bigger tolerance and cause frustration on your part. As well take it after your dose of amphetamine is weening off, people who abuse amphetamines even people who use them therapeutically have a higher chance of being magnesium deficient. When to take DXM, I take a small dose of 5-10mg everyday even on days I do not dose, I take it in the morning when I wake up..

Amphetamines primary action is acting upon monoamine neurotransmitters via catecholamines which in turn churns out the neurotransmitters; dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, acetylcholine, glutamate, and histamine. I am unable to answer your questions on calcium but being as it is an essential element to the human body there is no reason to avoid or primarly seek unless you plan on potentiating the amphetamine via alkaline gastrointestinal track via calcium bicarbonate.

Now as for 5-HTP the precursor to serotonin, it is a bad idea to dose 5-HTP with amphetamine but a good idea to replenish your supply of it after a binge or on days you do not take amphetamines... Serotonin syndrome is no joke and can be deadly.

As always stay safe and most importantly stay informed.. I recommend doing further individual research over the internet to get a better grasp of the concept and actions of amphetamines and the human body.

Its really not worth it beyond magnesium supplements

^this. Otherwise if you combine DXM with amphetamines, you risk serotonin syndrome, and if you combine it with ketamine/other dissociatives you just waste money on that, and risk picking up an additional habit.
