im prescribed ADDYS but with the recent DEA investigation on it my prescription was lowered, and its almost impossible to come by at pharmacies near me. i know theres other pills you can take that are similar like rid. theres another one that starts with a v too. im going to talk to my dr about switching not only because its taken me 4 months to find a pharmacy that actually had it but i think it may have been reformulated because its DEFIANTLY not as strong... i went through the trouble and money to get a prescription i cant even use. what are some other substitutions with the same effect? some of you may think im a terrible person because i dont actually have add or adhd, i studied for the test to get a prescription for a few reasons. (okay yes, when i was little they thought i may have add but i wasnt tested because back then you were put in special edd and back in the 90s you were ridiculed for being in special edd so i was never tested) but im a college student and its a much safe substitute for a small blow addiction (yes i know; wrong reasons) but when i have to work, finals and then a meeting with a client it comes in handy. what are my other "upper" alternatives that will have the same effect and not so impossible to come by when i actually am PRESCRIBED the crap....

vyvanse
dexedrine

...desoxyn in the Twilight Zone where you can actually convince a doctor to prescribe it haha

haha thats only the best show ever. if only it worked like that! ive heard about vyvanse so ill have to check it out and ask. thank you!

Talk to your doctor that prescribed you the medication. Some people get on Vyvanse, Dexedrine, Strattera, Methylphenidate, and I know people who take a low dose of Wellbutrin for their ADD or ADHD.

I find that drinking large quantities of caffeine either coffee or tea sort of worked; but it's way too easy to drink too much and get distracted, and it can make sleeping difficult. :\

I think you'd like Vyvanse. I was prescribed Vyvanse for about two years and then deiced to switch because the effect I liked the most (not being hungry) began to wear off. I switched to Adderall XR but I ended up not liking it nearly as much. Adderall tends to hit you harder when it starts to take effect and then wears off faster. I find that with Vyvanse, I feel more alert and focused longer... They're practically the same thing but I didn't have as many bad side effects with Vyvanse.

How about Dexedrine? It is pure dextroamphetamine, without any levoamp (Adderall is a mixture of both) and a lot of people prefer it, including myself.

As far as stimulant medications go there's also Vyvanse and Concerta (long acting) and Ritalin and Focalin (short acting.) It's also worth looking into Modafinil, Armodafinil, Adrafinil etc, I personally am prescribed Armodafinil for ADHD and it works great.

As far as non stim meds go, some people have luck with Strattera, Wellbutrin, or Guanfancine. These take a bit longer to start working though and may not be as effective, YMMV. Hopefully this was helpful.

I have been on the original Instant Release Adderall since the year 1999, and, only during late 2011, and much of 2012, was there a true
shortage of any form of instant release Adderall, or its, generic versions. I live in the Southeastern USA between Atlanta GA and Washington
DC. The patent on brand Adderall Instant Release expired some time ago, I'm guessing around the year 2007 or 2008. It has changed from
Richwood Pharmaceuticals, in the USA, to ShireUS Pharmaceuticals, to, Barr Labs, since its introduction in the year 1993/1994. Adderall
instant release, has the exact same formula, as the former "Obetrol" by Obetrol Pharma, Brooklyn, NY, from the late 1970's, containing 4
types of amphetamine salts. I have the factory bottle in front of me, from Barr Labs, a division of TEVA, of Sellersville, PA USA.

The tablets range from 5 mg up to 30 mg Instant Release (5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg, 15mg, 20mg, 30mg). All tablets contain 4
different types of amphetamine salts, divided up 25% each of the 4 amphetamine salts.
1. Dextroamphetamine Saccharate
2. Dextroamphetamine Sulfate
3. Amphetamine Saccharate
4. Amphetamine Sulfate

In the past 21 years, I have substituted Dexedrine Spansule 15mg, with Dexedrine Sulfate 5mg Instant
Release tablets, taken over a 24 hour period, but my current Psychiatrist, will not prescribe me anymore
D-amphetamine Sulfate I/R in the 5mg or 10 mg tablets. The Dexedrine Spansule works fine for me, or
the Barr generics, it just takes about one hour for it to get me going, whereas, the Dexedrine Sulfate,
used to hit me within 15 to 20 minutes full force. I have never tried the Adderall Extended Release, or
the other newer versions of C-II class stimulants.
