Adderall scripts/time between

My doctor currently gives me two 20mg tabs/day. He writes the script for 66 pills, and on the bottle it always says "33 days" (i'm assuming this is the day limit on the "one month" rule, C-II drugs?). Now of course I have built up a tolerance, and i have to take a little more for the desired effect, but I also end up giving a lot away, so sometimes I run out for a few days before I call the doctor's office for a refill.
Now, this doctor doesn't seem to keep track of what i'm taking, he will ask "so what are you taking and what dose?" - writes the script and i'm out the door. If I get a script on lets say..July 1st, I usually call the doctors office and say i need a refill, in time, so i get the new bottle on August 1st. Sometimes I have an appt. and he will give me the script more than just a few days before the 33 days.
I haven't had a problem yet, but I am wondering, how often can I have adderall scripts filled, if he always gives me 33 days worth, could i refill it, say, every 25-27 days if i wanted? (the doctors office doesn't even check any records, hell i never see him write anything down about what drug i am on, just ask what i was taking and writes the script) When do insurance companies and/or pharmacies notice? If I went to a different chain every month, that would probably take care of that..but insurance companies? DEA?
 
As long as you dont do it every month, you should be ok. Even if the doctor dosen't seem to be keeping track, he can find out if he wanted to. There's records of all that stuff so if for some reason the doctor or whomever checked them and saw you're refilling your script the day you get it, then he might begin to catch on. And once a doctor begins to suspect you're abusing your scripts, they can become very wary of increasing or continuing the perscription.
In the rare event that questions were asked, you can always say you are/were going away for a while and you wanted to make sure you had enough of your medicine for that time, but it is unlikely that anyone will ask as long as you dont have an obvious record of early refills.
I take Ambien (as well as Adderall), and originally he gave me a script for 30 10mg tablets, but after the first month I made the mistake of telling him that a lot of the time I'd just break a pill and half to help me get to sleep instead of putting me out. From then on he cut it down to 15 tabs a month instead of 30. BUT, now that I have been on it for awhile, and have to take a whole pill more often, I tend to run out between doctors appointments so I call the pharmacy to refill it as normal, and they call the doctor for approval and I get it the next day. Though the months worth of pills dont usually last me a month, they last me long enough for my doctor to see I'm not abusing them. This is for sleeping pills, however, and not Adderall- which isn't something you're SUPPOSED to take more of just because its not enough for desired effects.
So to sum it up- As long as its as you said "every 25-27 days" you shouldn't have a problem unless you do it every month or someone suspects you of abuse. I do think that there are some script that CANNOT be refilled early even if you have refills left without doctors approval (oxy, etc.), but I'm pretty sure you'd be ok with Adderall. (sorry for the long post)
 
sometimes, your insurance will only let you pay for 30-60 or 90 day supply. I worked at a pharmacy this summer though, and saw some old woman, must've been 65 or something, get a perscription for over 300 dexedrine pills! She didn't pay insurance, i dunno how she got all those pills perscribed to her at once though.
 
It doesn't matter that you can get a new script from the doc before the month is up. Insurance and the pharmacy won't let you fill it more than 2-3 days before you are supposed too. I tried 5 days early once and got rejected. Insurance shows on the computer the day you got it filled the month before so even if you go to a different chain of pharmacy, they will still know that you are early. Theoretically, you could go to a pharmacy far away and pay cash but damn, that's desperate.
 
Abra is absolutely right. When and if you tried to fill your prescription early the pharmacy computer would show TPR(insurance problem) and the problem would be your refill is too soon.
 
But I have been doing this for quite a while, if i have an appt. with the doctor he'll ask "is it almost time for a refill?" - even if its 5-6 days, he'll write it so I don't have to wait til I'm about out, i've gotten the bottle without any problems.
What about when he changes the dosage? He has done that, and I would still have 10+ days worth left, still no problem, i'm assuming because he changed the dose.
None of these chain-pharmacies ever asked anything, my age was put down wrong on the last script, they still filled it (and they asked me when my date of birth was?)
 
tolerance is an issue with stimulant medication and you can talk to your doctor about increasing the dosage.
misuse of stimulant medicationin appropriately treated uncomplicated ADHD is uncommon. however doctors are aware of the abuse by friends and family.
it seems like you're being sensible with your medication and only have to limit giving it out to others.
