I would really appreciate any advice on what might cause the effects I'm having. I took my prescribed 30mg adderall XR this morning after taking some new supplements last night and my mind and body have gone pretty numb. I can barely think, my mind keeps going blank, I'm tired.... Last night I started taking slowmag (magnesium chloride and calcium) , Feosol (Ferrous sulfate(Iron)), and zinc gluconate glycine. I also took diphenhydramine to help me sleep. Today, after my adderall kicked in, I had the effects above. I have a total inability to think or do anything really. My breathing is a bit shallow and I don't feel sleepy but weak... Doing anything is an effort. Anyone have any idea what might cause this? I'm really hoping this will go away soon. Any advice?

It sounds just like your having comedowns. What you described is a perfect picture of chronic dosing aftermath. Everything is fine and you can continue your supplements. Maybe consider lowering your adderall dose or being more aware of when you dose to plan for the comedown. The shallow breathing won't stay for more than a few days.

Interesting, thanks common :)... There's a bit more to the story actually... I've been taking vyvanse for a while before I took a break and switched to adderall. After the break, I was started at 30mg with boosters in the afternoon... I was only at 40mg of vyvanse so a pretty high starting dose. My apetite has been down and and I haven't been sleeping well so last night I decided to try and get it all out of my system by drinking a lot of cranberry juice (acidify urine and diarrhetic) and taking replenishing minerals (hence the supps). It worked because I slept well for 10 hours. The reason I didn't think it was comedown was because I seemed fine for about an hour after waking up and only starting feeling all those symptoms when the adderall xr kicked in. Also, my post was only 5 hours after dosing... and xr lasts longer... But, could it be that flushing out my system with lots of cranberry and water reduced amphetamine levels to lower than they have been in a long time so I'm feeling a comedown in that sense... This makes sense to me but I don't know if that's how it works? I may drink cranberry juice every night to help my body get rid of the amps. I feel I am a poor AMP metabolizer so the amp buildup in my system means I develop a quick tolerance to the good effects (focus) but the bad effects stay with me (insomnia & anorexia). Thoughts?

Sorry for double post...Thanks sekio, with these answers it sounds like I posted this in the wrong place. I was expecting more advanced interactions going on. Also, perhaps the cranberry juice detox was a bit too abrupt on the system. Maybe just not taking adderall would have been the smart way to go but I don't get anything done when I don't take it...

queenscarlet's edited/deleted post, in not so mean words, raised doubt as to the efficacy of cranberry juice to increase the excretion of amphetamine. Urinary PH has a great effect on amphetamine half-life. More acidic = shorter half life. Cranberry juice, especially in high quantities, reduces urinary PH. Also, as a diuretic, cranberry juice increases urine flow. This may also increases the excretion rate of amphetamine (seen it written but too lazy to look for sources)

"Amphetamine has a 7-32 hour half life, depending on the urinary pH"
www.healthy.net/scr/article.aspx?Id=2503

"In normal urine (pH 6–8 ), 37–54% of a dose is excreted as parent drug and 4–7% as D-amphetamine (AMP) (21)(22)(23)(24). Each unit increase or decrease in urinary pH produces a respective 7-h increase or decrease in the MAMP plasma half-life"

If you've been taking amphetmaines ona regular basis "for a while" then of course you will get comedowns. They are mostly all psychological however, and if they are not too severe, you can will yourself to work done.
