I've been taking adderall for about 5-6weeks no at doses of 30-60mgs. I skipped a few days in between but I found I felt bad and went back to the adderall. My concern is that I have built a dependance so fast and if I don't stop now it will get out of hand. Should I ct it or taper off quickly? I know 6 weeks doesn't sound long but I feel like shit in the mornings. I can't find any info on someone on adds for a short period of time. Most that want to stop have been on it for years. Just looking for some advice. BTW I want to stop because I no longer feel anything and I don't want to be a slave to a pill.

I've always just stopped taking my amps cold turkey. Have you tried just not taking it? what happens? If you're going to taper, be sure it's very short, you're going to feel some discomfort and lethargy no matter what, but it's really not a big deal, tapering isn't necessary.

I took two days off a few days ago and it was so hard to get out of bed. On the third day I had things to do and took the adderall. So if I taper it has to be short because i've only been on them 5 weeks right? Thanks for the help bro.

Amphetamine tolerance builds up pretty quickly, I imagine that dependence could rise quickly as well. If you're serious about quitting you could try cold turkey if you're going to have a week off anytime soon. Other than that, from what you expressed, your body might not be very happy with you suddenly stopping -- dependence develops differently with different people and it's easy to overthink and placebo some symptoms of withdrawal which, even if just in your head, can really affect how you physically feel (I placebo withdrawals a lot, can't say I know why). With this in mind, it might be a better option for you personally to slow down your dosage over a couple weeks or so. With your busy schedule, this might be the best option for you. Kudos for knowing when you need to stop too man, good luck!

Yeah, thankfully you're not taking obscene doses, your self-restraint will really pay off. You will probably experience that same lethargy and fatigue for a week or two, but if you regulate your diet and exercise then you can power through it in no time with just a bit of effort, and use the same self-control that kept you dosing under 60mg to stop taking them, that's all it takes.

amps cold turkey is easy . I do it alll the time if I need a break. I may take smaller doses for a few days when I need to be functional. Breaks Are good always. I dont mind the fatigue as it can be avoided being healthy and excercise

I don't think it should be said that quitting amph's cold turkey is easy. It may have been for one specific person and been horribly hard for another. There are many factors that make up the difficulty and level of discomfort a given person will feel.

Some individuals abuse amphetamines for long periods of time and become semi-dependent on the feeling. They enjoy the mood boost, but they haven't become dependent on it for daily responsibilities. For a person like this, quitting cold turkey may prove fairly easy.

Other individuals begin abuse amphetamines during a stressful time, it allows them to continue doing their day to day work. After a period of time the only thing that gets them out of bed and into their daily routine, are the amphetamines that they have grown mentally dependent on. For someone like this it can be very hard to stop.

Cold turkey or taper? Depends on the person. When I quit using amphetamines I had to go cold turkey. If I tried to taper off I would always end up still taking large amounts and prolong the quitting process. You gotta find what works for you.

You also need to find true motivators. Not in the form of a pill. Daily activities that you enjoy. Things that you feel some self satisfaction after doing it, such as hard workouts, Pick-up games of your favorite sports. Find something that gives you energy, not take it all away.

^Yeah, that's why I was trying to word my responses carefully, because personally, I have no problems at all stopping methamphetamine (it's the only amp I use) cold turkey, the idea of tapering had never crossed my mind. It's very "easy" for me, out of all the hard drugs, amphetamines are probably the easiest to kick, the only withdrawal symptoms I notice is lethargy. And I mean, when you're used to doing SPEED all the time and then you stop, of course you're not going to have the same energy levels.

I didn't take anything today but 1000mg of l-tyrosine and I feel fine. Really wierd because a few days ago I felt real out of it when not on amphs. The only difference is I had been taking zyprexa to sleep after using the amphs and last night I did not. Maybe the zyprexa was what was making me lazy?? The only problem is now I feel I'm ok and can handle it so I want to take some real bad, real bad. Its sunday, my girl is working I'm bored and I want to get high, sux. Can't win for losing.

Yah quitting stimulants is not like quitting opiates or benzo's where a taper is almost always the best course of action. Personally though, I feel that the depression caused from a prolonged stimulant binge can be just as awful in its own way. I guess that perhaps switching to a more mild stimulant (perhaps provigil) and slowly tapering with that may help, but at some point you've got to just come down.

there really is no need to taper. in fact, cold turkey is probably safer, because if you taper, you are less likely to actually quit, because each time you take it, you just want more, and reducing the frequency will only increase the cravings, and the taper will never actually happen, you'll just relapse. best cure for the lethargy is l-tyrosine, 1 gram 2 hours after a meal and 1-2 hours before another one. and yeah that zyprexa definitely contributed to the tiredness.
