Stimulants Adderall can put me to sleep

so I've currently been up about 50 hours and have done around 120-150mg of Adderall 20 IRs. this could totally be cause of sleep deprivation of course but it has happened in the past as well (especially when i did coke)

an hour ago (3:30 am) i took a ten IR (half the pill) and almost passed out i was so tired. the same thing would happen to me on coke (which made me get tested for ADHD in the first place), i would always save a line to go to sleep with. this has also happened on adderall before and after numerous searches on google i have come to these options:

the zoloft i took today yesterday morning
the two .25 klonopins i took yesterday as well at 8am and 5
depleted norepinephrine/dopamine

the last one seems most logical but like i said i've always been able to take an upper to sleep and would do it on a regular basis last year when i was prescribed it

i'm probably still gonna be up and take more or maybe just smoke a bowl and pass out. 30 minutes after i took the 10mg i took a 20mg and now i just feel awake but tired

thanks for any help

i also have smoked about two packs of reds today/well last night/morning/night before last night, but minimal drinking (any drink) and i haven't eaten in three days

see title, and three options
Yes I read your title and the post (including the three options part) and everything is just statements; contradictory statements at that. I then apologized for not being able to understand what you were asking and asked for clarification so that I could better help you. Now that I am aware your question is...
why does adderall make me sleepy
...I can answer it for you.

Though I don't really understand how those three options are answers to "why does adderall makes you sleepy?" Anyways...

The way adderall works is by triggering the release of and preventing the reuptake of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine. In most people this results in a response in the sympathetic nervous system of increased pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and metabolism in general. In people who are diagnosed with ADHD the sympathetic nervous system is often already in this higher gear if you will. The drugs then have the opposite effect of slowing everything down instead of speeding it up.

Similar effects can be seen in the CNS with racing thoughts and ability to focus which also might aid in your ability to fall asleep.

I'm surprised your doctor hasn't mentioned how the drugs that they are prescribing you might work. The next time you have an appointment I suggest you bring the response you are having up and they can help you understand it.

Dexadrine makes me sleepy too, I think this is fairly normal if you have true ADHD. That's what my doc said when I ask. I take my 2nd 10mg dex at 3-4pm and get soooo sleepy. Kinda sux for an hour or two then smooth sailing. -Jaz

I was gonna post my own question about this but I did a search.

I have not been diagnosed adhd/add but often times when I take adderall recreationally, like 10-20 mg, I feel sleepy for a couple hours or so. I have actually fallen asleep shortly after dosing, even at 20 mg dosages. Once the pleasurable effects wear off, I seem to not be able to sleep (there is a window of opportunity). Is this a sign that I have adhd/add or is this just a normal reaction to amphetamines?I have never done more than 35 mg throughout a whole night so I do not have much of a tolerance, but I have done quit a bit of 'ecstasy' pills in the past. Am I normal or possibly adhd/add?

the reason you got sleepy after your last line of adderall and coke is because youve been awake for longer then 48 hours... you were already sleepy before you did the last line. and the reason you saved the last line for before bed is because your addicted to coke/amps. you want to create some sort of control and or excuse for continued use, like i need a line in order to sleep, etc.
