I have a habit of taking too much of my Adderall and I know that it does nothing but harm me physically and mentally. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to quit without too many negative side effects

I usually don't give advice like this but you just gotta suck it up. It's not like quitting an opiate addiction. I'm not saying its easy but you notice you have a problem, and once stopping you'll deal with that fatigue and stuff but not much more. Don't wait until you start taking opiates or benzos to deal with the crashes, accidently ending up with a bigger monkey your back regretting not just "sucking it up" and getting through the initial few weeks. Force yourself to exercises. Eat healthy diet. get good sleep and just push forward. It shouldn't take to long to get to a place where you feel good.

It's actually somewhat like an opiate addiction in that it's primarily a psychological addiction...there is a physical addiction component to opiates but you don't have to deal with that aspect if you don't want to, it's possible to bypass with enough "comfort drugs" and maybe a taper via an opiate maintenance drug like bupe. The vexing problem of opiate addiction is primarily the fact that opiate addicts make the conscious decision to go back to it, just like with speed or any other drug of addiction

In my experience, the peak of adderall withdrawal symptoms are within the beginning of the first week of detox. Afterwards, it's cake, especially when supplemented with EXERCISE. My advice would be to create a couple free days off if possible (school and jobs are worthless compared to your health, especially while detoxing from drugs), SLEEP IT OFF. Your psych will jump back into place eventually, and once your comfortable, only take therapeutic doses when ABSOLUTELY needed to avoid abusing them again because they are so detrimental to your body in the long run.

When I went cold turkey from a decent tolerance of daily use for a couple months, I literally stayed in bed from early evening to late afternoon the first night until I forced myself out of bed to eat out my pantry. Did some weightlifting, and passed back out for basically 2 more days of the same cycle. It's all psychological with adderall, and the endorphins released from exercise and recovery with proper nutrition (PROTEIN!) make it so much more bearable. Just take care of yourself, and understand your outrageous fatigue is temporary as you're detoxing.
