ADD med script Q

I have been working on an ADD script over the past two months. A month ago I was successful after bringing my mom in with me. Happy Mother's Day btw.
I was prescribed 10mg time released Metadate 1-2 times a day, and 40 - 10mg Ambien for sleep.
I know this is a weak script, be he has expressed desire to "work" with me on it.
I have been polling friends to see what they are prescribed, what strength, and how many times a day they have to take it. Right now it would seem that most guys I know are prescribed either 3 - 20mg Ritalin a day, 3 - 10mg Adderall a day, or 2-3 20mg Adderall a day.
If anyone is prescribed these or if you have any friends that are, I would appreciate the info.
It could be beneficial too for any other scripters out there, and this applies to other add/adhd medications, dexedrine and cylert specifically.

I started out on 1 20mg ritalin sr a day, but I want it upped as its not doing as well as when I first started taking it. Although, I think I'm basically fucked out of anything after I wound up in the hospital even though I never abused my ritalin.

I was prescribed 1 - 20mg of ritalin sr... and it really isn't good at all. But my friend is prescribed 1- 30 mg of Adderal. I would definitely recommend that... it's much better for the ADD part, and you can tweak like hell off it. Mixing ritalin and addies amplifies both effects... if you can get both.

I was curious, I would say I'm more inattentive than hyperactive, is adderall more of a drug for hyperactive or inattentive persons?

Adderall is a better drug for everyone ...well maybe not if you have paranoia/anxiety problems. Amphetamine has been shown to help pretty much everyone on SAT type tests. It will make everyone more attentive/better concentration on a small dose (tho what is a small dose for you may vary).

so basically you went to the doctors and said 'i think i have add'? i would imagine it to be quite an awkward topic to get around, how does one who is eager to get better go about it?

I've been on and off different levels of ritalin for about 4 years and I can totally get a buzz from snorting 10 mg of it. Recently, I was put on 20mg Adderall, and am finding that I get much LESS of a buzz and it doesn't help focus as much. Plus, snorting it sucks. I'm trying to get 10 mg ritalin in addition to the 20mg Adderall and hoping my doc will go for it. Am I the only one who is having a negative experience w/ Adderall?

Pooka124, I have found that adderall doesn't really help me as much as Ritalin in that respect, Ritalin seems more of a "short burst" Vs. Adderall's "sustained barrage". I feel 10mgs of Ritalin more enjoyable than 10mgs of Adderall.
Also, I forgot to mention, I do have a friend who has a script for 30 - 20mgs Adderall and 90 -20mgs of Ritalin. If only my insurance covered his doc.
angel_girl8, I found for getting help with ADD, I asked a lot of friends what they went through. I talked to my mom about it, she agreed to come in knowing of my past drug use etc. I also told my doc about past drug use. Honesty goes a very long way, and moms r cool. If you want details, e-mail me angel, I don't feel like going into depth unless I know you could use it or appreciate the info.
Also, you have to probably ride out a stonewall script they may throw at you. To think I was Bipolar for a month before I became ADD.
I think I'm going to try for 30-10mg Adds and 60-90 - 10mg Rits. I have found that combination very helpful.
