That and the fact that nobody ever reports overdosing on these substances is further evidence that they are placebo.

Catnip and Valerian are the same right?

My body temperature raises significantly when dosing more valerian then the pill box says is needed to acquire a pleasant relaxing state.

TThink nutmeg, or parsley or fennel oil. Never heard overdoses of those (actually all nutmeg doses are overdoses).

I know of at least one nutmeg overdose. My girlfriend (at the time) consumed an entire normal-sized spice jar of nutmeg (~40-50g?) in a smoothie. Several hours later, she was hospitalized against her will (she lived on a college campus). While in the hospital, she had a heart attack of some kind and needed defibrillation.

That is the only heart attack she's ever had and an investigation after the incident found no irregularities with her heart, so until anyone can prove otherwise, I'm blaming the incident on the pharmacological effects of the nutmeg (and of course her stupidity ; ).

Oh yeah, I know several nutmeg overdoses... that shit is beyond horrific.

No, not the same. Catnip that you find at the pet shop are the leaves, flowers, and stems of the catnip plant. Valerian root, as it is called is the root of the Valerian plant.

Now, in my experience I have mixed catnip with marijuana for something significantly more than placebo. It's not very pleasant but a friend and i smoked it and felt not so much relaxed, but unable to move. Virtually paralyzed on the couch for ~30 minutes to up to an hour (this was quite a few years ago). It didn't make it anymore enjoyable, but it has some activity.
