I am in possession of midazolam maleate and was wondering if it would be possible to substitute the maleate salt with a hydrochloric or acetate salt using acetic or hydrochloric acid, and would this make it more suitable for iv?

It's possible to substitute the acid out, but it takes more work than the layman is comfortable with. Look up acid-base extraction - thats what you need.
Water soluble maleate salts should already be suitable for IV but I urge you to reconsider injecting benzodiazpeines. Use a micron filter if you must.
