also... as far as DXM in general... zicam is your best bet. its got the least inactive ingredients of any OTC preparation, and is therefore most likely the healthiest form of DXM you can buy at the store. Delsym feels the worst on my gastro-intestinal system... i actually don't even use it anymore because of that, unless someone else gives me some. the only OTC preps that i use anymore are zicam and robitussin/walgreens/riteaid brand cool cherry tussin. if i'm using tussin, i only use one bottle and then add zicam to increase the dose...
cough syrup is hard on your body.
of course, pure powder is probably best... dissolved in solution with alcohol and PEG for proper absorption.
and this thread is derailed, but not too far i suppose.
oh, for Delsym... there's an extraction you can do to make it cleaner.
the gist of it is that the polistyrex beads sink in water. you can actually see and feel the beads if you pay close enough attention when you drink the stuff. what you do is mix up your delsym with a bunch of water in a large container, then carefully pour off all the stuff from the top without pouring off the stuff on the bottom. its kinda tricky but you can probably do it. you'll be left with like 10% of the inactive ingredients but 90% of the DXM.
