According to the wikipedia article (I know), CBD is converted to THC under acidic conditions. now, im not too familiar with pot, but CBD is important for the neuroprotective and cancer restricting effects, not intoxicating effects, right?

that being said, if pot were to be spritzed with maybe vinegar, or citric acid, would some a significant amount of CBD be converted to have a noticeable effect on potency?

food for thought I guess.

Curious about this also, but I think it might fall under the "no synthesis talk" rule. Hope I'm wrong.

You have to make hash oil, dissolve it in ethanol or isopropanol & reflux with a couple of drops of conc sulphuric acid to turn CBD back into THC, not worth it unlessyou have some 10 year old double zero morrocan hash that's been stored somewhere to degrade most of the THC into CBD (I speak from experience of trying this). Besides, most people like a bit of CBD in there as it acts as an anti-anxiety drug to counteract the effects of pure THC

Most people still don't know that intaking pure THC is not that fun actually. CBD is needed in conjuction with THC to achieve the 'funny' and prosocial effects of cannabis. THC by itself normally tends to cause anxiety, emotional impaiment and other negative side effects.

Anyway what you say is actually true in a certain sense, there is a chemical process you can use to isomerize pretty much all the cannabinoids from pure hash oil into THC using mainly sulphuric acid as a catalyst. You can find the article on Erowid.

Around here there is alot of wild weed growing, won't get you high if you smoke a pound. Obviously little or no thc, but anyone know how much cbd is in hemp? Enough to bother?

even though it may not be a good idea to consume pure THC, perhaps some shitty quality weed could be improved by altering the ratio of CBD to THC.

considering some 40% of the plant extracts are CBD, even the lowest quality weed has a fair bit

Well when I did it, the THC part from isomerization was dripped back onto the hash, so it had at least 10 % CBD (if it had all isomerized into CBD in the hash) - 100g of hash turned into oil and isomerized, then dripped back onto 10g of hash not used (basically best part of 4oz had abricadabra said over it!). Lovely, if maybe a bit too sticky and oil like to use easily. Hot knives got you really puggled!

PS removed sulphuric acid with an equivalent amount of sodium hydroxide in IPA. Nicely formed salt (sodium sulphate) which precipitated out of the alcohol soln very quickly (really should have removed water formed with anhydrous CaCl2 to remove last of salt, but hey, I was an impatient bastard back then! =D). If you have any good hash that was put somewhere so safe no-one could find it for a couple of years, it's easily the best thing you can do with it!
