For a long time I have been interested in expanding my mind and looking at things from all points of view. I connect my spirituality with my fascination for the unknown.

I have tried Marijuana (Daily for the last like 8 years) and Ecstasy. Both are excellent although I don't really roll very often. Mushrooms are cool too. I have tripped several times on shrooms with positive effect. Sometimes I find it can be tricky to return to the real world, but for the most part I have never had a bad trip.

I really am interested in trying acid. I would like to throw away my stigmas about it and see what its really like. Sometimes I can have strange mood swings and let my anxiety get a bit out of control, but for the most part I feel like I can control my life. The stress is a lot to manage but I maintain and push forward and find a great sense of reward in my work. (I am a Director of Photography)

Would I have a bad trip if I tried ac!d? how much different is it then shrooming? What setting should I place myself in? What type of people should I trip with.

I don't want to try it and lose my mind...I think I can handle it but want to eliminate troublesome variables as best as possible.

Is Ac!D for me?

If you're good on mushrooms chances are LSD will be just fine. Mushrooms are usually rougher than LSD. LSD is much more easily directed and has a "positive push" to it's effect.

I'm much more likely to freak out on mushrooms than I am on LSD. LSD is usually all smiles and sunshine. :)

Just go with the flow. :)

acid has never given me significant anxiety, whereas shrooms routinely make me projectile vomit and cry hysterically. go for it.

People I talk to seem to say Mushrooms can be harder to control then acid. I have successfully survived mushrooms with positive effect. I am very interested in Ac!D.

I have heard this analogy several times from other BL's

Mushrooms = Lord of the Rings
Acid = What is the Matrix?

I would say:

Mushrooms: Whirling Dervish

ACID: complex, graceful waltz

...if I were to use dance as a metaphor, which evidently, I just did.

Mushrooms are more frenzied and can invoke an almost delrious state; LSD tends to amplify reality beyond all meaning in a slower, more progressive way. Mushies tend to be a sharp rocket ride to the end of the universe, whereas on acid, you get to see every part of the journey in minute, almost excruciating completeness. :)

Thats it for metaphors/similes for today.

LSD is the universe's most intricate symphony. <3

edit-- haha im really baked right now and maybe that doesnt' make much sense?

i say again - LSD and shrooms are very, very much the same - i don't know for a fact, but i would say they have an identical effect on the brain..
if you do fine with shrooms - acid is only different in that you can eat a large amount quickly - 4 tabs of acid can be like eating 1/4oz of shrooms at once..

I don't think this is particularly good advice. Their action on the brain is rather similar, chemically speaking - but the fact is, even though both psilocybin and LSD produce their primary psychedelic effects through 5-HT2a receptor agonism, their range of effects is often quite different within any individual. All of the 2C-x phenethylamines - they act on the same receptors, but do they produce the same subjective effects? What about DMT?
Most people who have had both will tell you that LSD and psilocybin are quite different from each other, and it's not a good idea to go into an LSD experience expecting the same thing you got from psilocybin.

However, I would agree that they have about the same risk level for having a bad trip. To the OP: dispel ANY notion that you might go crazy or have a bad trip. Go into it with good thoughts and you'll probably come out of it with good thoughts ;)

Imagine existence as a machine. Mushrooms beat the machine with a sledgehammer and leave you to pick up the pieces and figure it out for yourself. LSD allows you to adjust the controls and settings on the machine so that you can better understand it.

^Hmm, I think most would say LSD and mushrooms are VERY diifferent. Well, I certainly do :)

agreed

ok - i am no expert - but, i have had dozens of trips on shrooms and acid - how about this - if you took the psilocybin out into powder and absorbed it in your mouth - maybe then we would have an identical reaction? because i can see the different absorption rate changing the come-on feel.. acid is more in your face when it first hits maybe because you get it all in one big dose..?

Nah, because LSD has affinty for dopamine, adrenal, serotonergic and histaminergic receptors, whereas mushrooms seem primarily to agonise the 5HT2a receptor (and the other alkalods in each mushroom species will exert *some* effect of their own) and other serotonin receptors.

A poor comparson could be made with benzo's and opiates- all of them feel slghtly subjectvely different (some way more then others) even though they effect simlar neurons. Diazepam feels totally differnt to alporazolam, and morphine feels different to oxycodone. They all affect the same brain regions; but in subtly different ways.

Or compare PCD to DXM to Ketamine; all effect the NMDA receptor, but give totlly different subjectve experinces.

I am in the same sort of situation as the OP, however i have had about 4 trips on 1/2 to 3/4 of some mickey mouse tabs here in Australia.

I have had some of the walls moving and my thought processes have been amazing but i have still been a bit wary of say taking two for a full on experience. I really want to, but the thing is i don't have a sitter, and would just be at home by myself.

Any thoughts, just to paint me a slightly better picture of what it might be like? I am super relaxed at home and for the last few small trips have just worked on music in a home studio.

I think with 2 tabs i won't be getting much music work done?

Cheers.

ok - thanks swilow - very enlightening..!
frog - you're right - i tried to make music on mushrooms a while back and i made about 3 little synth lines and stopped.. it was fun, but my concentration wanted to wander off... lol..
i do most of my tripping alone.. i have had great times - except once when i was left alone in the woods at night on 4 strong tabs - that was bad... ;)

"Sometimes I can have strange mood swings and let my anxiety get a bit out of control, but for the most part I feel like I can control my life."

I'm not sure what that means but I've seen some mixed results on acid for people who have issues with control. Usually the bad (constructive though) stuff happens when its someone who needs to be in control, and of course the first thing that LSD does is removes your ability to comprehend exactly what objects and things are, making controlling anything quite difficult.

Fascinating. I may have to relax and just accept that I'll need to go with the flow and let the trip guide me. I'll put myself in a good environment and remove preconceptions. Whatever happens, happens.
