Cocaine Acetone Wash

I have often googled a question that I could not find an answer to out in the real world and found this forum the number one result. Since then I have come just to look around and read. I am an info junkie and I love to learn, especially about interesting topics such as the ones here. It certainly doesnt hurt that there seem to be a lot of great people here. And probably some fat little piglets too, but that's cool. Anyway, I have read Le Junk's post on acetone washing cocaine and I am intrigued but I did not think that anhydrous acetone existed, even in chemistry class the purest form of acetone we ever used had .0075% max H2O, is there such a thing as pure anhydrous acetone somewhere easily accessible? (I am familiar with the magnesium sulfate method for drying hydrous acetone, I am curious about PURE ANHYDROUS acetone.)

The most pure stuff I've found from science/lab supply stores were 99.5%

Pure anhydrous acetone does not exist because acetone is hygroscopic (draws moisture from the air) and its eventual decomposition/condensation releases water. You have to dry it yourself or redistill it under a dry atmosphere.

Much appreciated. I assume even with an acetone that has .0075% h2o, one would still want to dry it themselves because even that small amount of water could result in a large loss of water soluble products that one would not want to lose, is my assumption correct?

I forget if its .5g per 1ml or 1g per .5ml of water that the cocaine can get dissolved into.

It wouldn't hurt to do the epsom salt method as long as you do it right. Always cap the bottle right away after each use.

do the epsom salt method before every use as well.

You have to bake the epsom salts at a real high temperature, preferably multiple times, grinding them finely in a mortar, if you want to use them to dry stuff. Normally epsom salts are sold already with water in them.

Unless you are using many litres of acetone, less than 0.1% water is not worth worrying about. But you'll only get that in a factory-sealed bottle or can.

i dont know anything about this, but an old school mate i knew, use to buy good coke, and purify it with ammonia and alcohol before cooking it into crack. Opens your eyes to how pure your shit really is, since he would by an 8 ball of rocket fuel and get a little over a gram back.
