Frumious Bandersnatch
What do abstinence, sobriety and recovery they mean to you?
One of the things I love the most about Refuge Recovery, the Buddhist orient alternative to 12 Step groups, is their at least tacit respect for the fact that there are many different paths to recovery. The reality is that what sobriety means for you is probably a bit different than what it means for me. After all, we are different people and face different challenges. Of course, we have a lot in common in our mutual interest in Recovery, but when one person starts to think that their particular version of recovery should apply and even be imposed on others experimenting with Recovery, especially newcomers just beginning to discover the flavor of their own recovery, conflict inevitably develops and harm results.
I want to hear about the various understandings and approaches to abstinence, sobriety and recovery of people who frequent BL/SL.

- How do you actually live and experience abstinence, sobriety and recovery in your day-to-day life?
- How do you experience abstinence, from all drugs or only certain types of drugs?
- What about sobriety, does sobriety preclude moderation?
- How do you experience moderate drug use in your day-to-day life for those of your who are sober?
- What does recovery mean to you, and how does abstinence and sobriety fit into it?
- Is there a difference between abstinence and sobriety, or sobriety and recovery?
