I'm sure most of you have heard about this terrible event..I wrote this while watching the news today. If anyone else has related poems, post here.
"Coward!"
How did this happen?
A tragedy
32 branches needlessly sawed off the tree-
(in the middle of the meadow,
older than any woodland creature
would think possible,
focal point of the surrounding forest)
-abruptly. Leaving open wounds.
Oozing sap.
Bluejays beg for information
Wide-eyed owls wonder why
Cardinals cry out, and
Quails keep questioning.
The worst part is,
the malicious lumberjack left the remains
lined up on the forest floor
and disappeared.
Leaving open wounds.
Leaving no closure.
Leaving no one to blame.
Leaving all to wonder.
