This gets asked a lot, and my guess is nothing's changed lately. If it's in tinfoil though, I'd take it out. I don't know what they're x-raying, but I bet it's more than I think. And a strip of metal would probably be sufficient grounds for them checking it out. Even if they do though, you won't get caught, just mail it with a random (legit) return address.

yeah, itd work pretty good.. ecspecially if u stuck the 10 strip undeneath the black bottom part of the CD case.. it pops out

I would be wary about putting it in a letter. If postal workers see any kind of awkward bump or feel something hard inside, it'll probably be all over the news. I think the CD Idea would work best, and put it in some plastic wrap and not tin foil (probably wouldn't even be seen by an x-ray or flouroscope).
Especially don't use real addresses. Don't send it to your friends real address, either, because if he gets busted with acid in the mail then it could come back to you. Not cool.
