Another thread got me to thinking about something I've often pondered....
We all react to drugs differently and metabolize them differently. Not only does it mean that the necessary dosages vary but also that the effects we experience can be entirely different. I thought I'd open this up to discussion of our experiences that tend to vary from the "normal" experiences on any given drug.
I'll start with some abnormalities I've found in my experience:
1) Psilocybin shrooms--From everything I've read, most people find shrooms to be one of the most visual psychedelic substances there are; many people say that they are more visual lsd.
I have had shrooms on 5 occasions. While I definitely tripped very very hard (extreme mindfuck), I have never had any visuals on them....none whatsoever. I've had extremely vivid visuals on lsd, some good visuals on 5meodipt, and mild visuals on mdma...but no visuals on shrooms. I have no explanation for this except that we all metabolize things differently.
2) MDMA--Almost everyone seems to experience a strong entactogenic (touchy-feely) aspect on E where having someone touch you or you touching something else feels abnormally good. In addition, they experience the whole lovey feeling as if everything is wonderful...a feeling of general peacefulness and a general love for everything.
I've taken what are known to be good pills on a number of occasions. I can honestly say that I have not experienced either of the above effects. I have felt very stimulated and I definitely feel euphoria. I also get visuals, especially in the peripheral vision. Lastly, I also get an erotic stimulation but I tend to get that on most psychedelics. There are two explanations I've come up with for this. The first is that perhaps I've only had MDA pills and not MDMA pills because my effects seem to be more typical of MDA. The only problem is that this is the same for all the pills I've tried and all were supposed to be MDMA and most were listed on either dansesafe or pillreports websites and listed as MDMA. The other possible explanation is that I may not be taking a large enough dose. I recently read in an article that a smaller dose will give you more of the stimulating effects but lack the entactogenic and lovey feelings that a high dose provide. I usually take around 2-4 pills in an evening, depending on the pill and the night. I've never taken more than 4...perhaps I'm a hardhead with this substance and require more to enlighten me? However, on a few occasions when taking 3 or 4 pills I throw up at some point...and in my experience, if it's enough to make you throw up then it's enough to give you the full effects. Maybe I should do a test run at 5-6 pills sometime?
3) 2CT7--The active dose for this item (orally) seems to be anywhere from 15mg to 35mg depending on the person. I've tried this item on three different occasions. My first attempt was with 20mg oral; I felt nothing. A few weeks later, I tried again at 35mg; once again, I felt absolutely nothing. Then a few months later, I tried a final attempt ingesting a total of 60mg in a span of about 2 hours (30mg+15mg+15mg); remarkably, I again felt nothing...not a single thing, no stomach upset, no visuals, no stimulation, not a damn thing! The only explanation I have for this is that I am a total hardhead when it comes to this substance. I received it from a reputable source (the one that recently closed their doors). A couple people have recommended snorting it but I seem to have delicate sinuses and all the reports detail extreme sinus pain so I think I'll refrain from this. I may at some point attempt either plugging it or trying it intramuscularly.
4) 5MeoDIPT--A lot of people report stomach and intestinal distress from this substance (diarrhea, vomiting). Also, most people don't report much in the way of visuals.
I've taken this a whole lot of times. I seem to get some abnormally good visuals on this. Most people say they don't get any visuals from this substance...some report mild visuals. I seem to get visuals that are better than E but not quite lsd (and better than shrooms but that's only cause I don't get anything from shrooms). The visuals are comprised of some trails and a lot of fractal pattern formation. Also of note, I have never experienced any gastrointestinal distress whatsoever. I've only tried this in the 6-16mg range and I tend to prefer it around 8mg. However, I tend to experience most of the visuals when I breach the 12mg barrier but at this dose I start getting a bit of mindfuck (like a light lsd dose)...and I tend to take this substance in settings for which a mindfuck is not appropriate. On a related note, I find this to be a very nice substance...a low dose is good for settings that require mental facilities and a high dose starts to go enter low dose acid effects.
5) Cocaine--Most people find that they may have some lingering sinus problems after snorting coc. These effects seem to last anywhere from a couple hours to a day or two afterwards.
I'm not sure if I'm allergic to cocaine or if it's just because I have more sensitive sinuses but after a night of binging on coc I tend to have sinus problems for the next two weeks (yes, that's weeks not days). At first I thought it was just that I was getting poor quality coc but then after more experience with rather pure coc, I found that the more pure the coc, the worse the sinus problems were. As a result, I never touch the stuff. On a related note, does this have any effect if you either plug it or IM it? I've never read reports of either.

I can't offer much for the other drugs, or an answer..
but i can share in refernce to psilocybin mushrooms. I have eaten mushrooms on many, many occasions, and each time I get the 'mindfuck' and no visuals. The part I enjoy most about a psychedelic drug is the mental journey, so it doesn't bother me too much. I have eaten differing amounts each time, once I consumed 1/4 oz in hopes of getting some pretty color shifting or trails that I had grown accustomed to with LSD, but to no avail. Perhaps mushrooms only affect me mentally, which again isn't a problem.
I wish I had your answer, but I don't. I'm anxiously waiting for some others' responses.. I am curious to this myself.

to bunt..
ok, i have some comments on your post..
first, you seem to be over-ambitious when it comes to drugs, maybe if you didnt try so hard and relaxed, with no expectations, these things would "work" for you. I know that not everyone experiences the same effects, but a lot of psychoactives require some sort of reinforcement from your mind. I remember when i rolled for the first time, i didnt feel the peak until I said "this is good, really good" out loud over and over.
About hallucinations with mdma... while it is by no means a hallucinogen, the government and popular vote put it into such a category. I recently did a bit of reasearch on this subject for my psychology class and found a study that showed that out of a group of men and women, only some women experienced mild hallucinations, while the men experienced none at very high doses. Obviously there are different cases, but I also know that pills arent pure these days and people try to make a bouqet of cheap chemicals in the pill to simulate e so that the buyer wont accuse the seller of giving them fake rolls. Your lack of enactogenic experience with e, may be from the mindset you have, the people you are with and you psycological distress in your personal life. Sometimes its not your neuro chemistry or the drug, but the inner peace of the person. What drugs do is enhance or alter your being and if are going through something, be it concious or subconcious, it may affect you very much during a psycoactive experience. People take substances for granted these days and they dont keep track of their mental well being on and off drugs. For the most part, people's experiences differ greatly because of who they are or what they are feeling. If we didnt have expectations about certain substances from what other people have told us or what we know, then most experiences would be different but leading to a central idea. Ok, so what I'm saying about your mdma is use is: if you need to take more than 1 or 2 pills, you probably shouldny be rolling that often and your lack of empathy might be caused by the frequent use and tolerance.
About foxy.. I think, like most hallucinogens, it is very different for every person, so dont go by what others are saying. Personally, ive only experienced open eye visuals on it ranging from translucent fractals to morphing paintings and melting textures. I heard from a friend that he hallucinated actual people and objects that seemed very normal but weren't there. While another guy heard music in a very different key. The reason its not that popular is because of these kinds of things...the fact that you cant describe the experience or predict it.
And as a side note about snorting- throwing harsh, raw crystals onto your sinuses does not appeal to me because I value my taste and smell senses very much. Im not surprised that you have sinus problems after snorting....but to addicts, its merely an obstacle to tackle.
peace

starshine, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that has found this not to be a decidedly visual drug. I'm also of the same opinion in that it really doesn't influence my opinion of them...when I take shrooms, it is for the mental aspect. I kind of feel like the visuals would be extra candy thrown in...they're nice but not what I'm setting out for in the first place.
zapo, I think you misinterpreted my post a bit. I wasn't trying express disappointment or regret from any of my experiences. I'm simply opening up for discussion the whole topic of how I believe a number of us have experiences that are markedly different from the "norm". I don't think I'm "trying too hard" for any particular experience as you say; I go into things open-minded allowing for whatever it will bring me on any given day. In regards to my E experiences, it has nothing to do with tolerance seeing as I usually leave considerable time between rolls (I've gone over a year between rolls before and still had the same sort of experiences as described above).
Also, I don't believe E is considered a "hallucinogen" at all...it is a "psychedelic" (psychedelic amphetamine to be more accurate) which is much different than a hallucinogen. Hallucinogens make you hallucinate whereas psychedelics do not necessarily do this, though they may.
I agree that perhaps my experiences with E are partly due to set and setting. To date, my experiences have either been in solitary settings or busy, social settings (parties, raves, etc); I have not yet had the opportunity to give it a go in an intimate setting with another person to release its potential entactogenic qualities. However, I don't feel my mindset has been a stumbling block for me. I am keen to evaluate my mental status before any sort of tripping and if I don't think I'm in the proper mental and emotional state then I postpone it for a different time.
Lastly, you say that if you need more than 1-2 pills then you shouldn't be rolling. I read an article recently that stated that at lower doses (50-70mg) a user may experience just the speedy effects and not the rest of the MDMA effects...the other effects tend to set in at doses greater than 100mg. Along with this, most pills nowadays tend to be anywhere from 40mg-80mg per pill. By these numbers you would think an average of 3 pills would be appropriate. You don't tend to think my experiences with E are a result of too low a dose?

Speaking of sinus problems, I've had a really odd issue with sinus infections following snorting drugs, namely that my usage of cocaine has never led to sinus problems, while my usage of ketamine has seemed to a good percentage of the time. This is especially counterintuitive seeing that the ketamine has been relatively pure and less handled. Of course, maybe the sinus infections were entirely coincidental. Who knows?
As far as unusual reactions to drugs goes, my biggest issue personally seems to be length of experience/sleeping issues. Acid will keep me awake 24 or more hours consistently, and cocaine will keep me up hours after snorting (a cut with meth seems unlikely, as well, because in my area meth seems about 4 times as expensive as coke--not that I would be all too aware, as I lack good hookups.)
As far as your shroom issues, for the shrooms I'd guess a higher dose would give you visuals (though I'm not an expert on this, as a brief price comparison of shrooms and acid and my preference for the acid mindspace has led to minimal usage of shrooms.) With the MDMA, I'd have to ask you HOW you are taking 3-4 in a night. If you are popping one after another every couple of hours, you aren't really making a higher peak more likely. In other words, before ramping up the dosage, try collapsing down the timeframe.

a normal ammount of mdma would be around 80-100mg for a good dose.....im thinking that with 3 pillz, youre getting over 150 mg(thats a lot)...get some pure molly and you'll know whats up.
Id like to add that while most people like shrooms a whole lot, after eating 2 grams or so, I hardly felt their effects....i think that because the potency varies so much, its hard to say what dose is good...maybe i shouldve eaten a whole 1/8th. They felt a lot like foxy to me as well.

Ochlocrat, you make a good point regarding the timeframe within which I ingested the pills. To date, I've only taken two at a time and then I sometimes boost about 2 hours later with 1 or 2 pills. Perhaps, I should try taking 3 or 4 from the beginning and see how that treats me.
