For the last two years or so, I have been diagnosed as Bipolar II and I take a daily regimen of 150mg Lamictal (lamotrigine), 300mg Lithium carbonate, and 20 mg Abilify (aripiprazole). In the years before I began these particular medications, I enjoyed taking 20-25mg of 2C-I to give me a +++ experience. About a year after beginning these meds, I aquired a plentiful amount of 2C-I, after not having any for about a year. To my amazement and frustration, I was only seeing a + experience from my "normal" dosage, so over the course of two months, with at least a week's space in between doses, I worked my 2C-I doseages up, all the way to 80mg (!), and still got no more than a weak ++ experience.
My theory: The research I did on 2C-I's neurochemical effects brought me not much other than direction towards better studied molecules like mescaline and 2C-B, and my basic understanding is that these chemicals are agonists at the 5HT-2a receptor, and 2C-I is so structurally similar to both of these that maybe I can assume similar effects on the 5HT-2a.
Then I looked up each of my prescribed meds on wikipedia and found out that of the three, the Abilify antagonizes the 5HT-2a receptor.
So, my question is: would these two chemicals, working in opposite ways on my 5HT-2a's, be the reason that I was not receiving +++ experiences from huge doses of 2C-I?
