Deep within the murky corridors of my mind
Lies a girl,
A girl I've seen for quite some time
Perhaps you know her yourself?
All in all
It is quite possible
And there she lies,
Crouched on the ground in an almost fetal position
Quivering as if winter herself had ridden through her
Alone, without much reason.
Her vision painted before me like a water coloured dream
Her memories reel
Of better times,
Of occasions now firmly distanced
She reaches,
As if to grasp and feel their warmth for one last time
To feel their security
Serenity
Tears drain from her eyes
They move along the lines on her face
Each line a testimony,
A stark reminder,
A fleeting glimpse
Without warning darkness envelopes her in a shroud
She had felt alone in the past,
But this was somehow different
As if it a pure emotion,
An emotion without distraction
She clutches around her for something,
Perhaps an offering of substance to ground her
But there is no physical in the mind
Conventional wisdom will not aid even the strongest being
Not in this place
You know who am,
For I am you and I am what you've become
Long ago we laughed as children in joyous amusement
We dreamed of faraway lands that promised salvation
To rid the pain of constant lashings
The one place where daddy wouldn't find us
I am you
Abigail
She clutches her head and screams
Hoping to silence this madness thats befallen her
I feel for her as if the pain is mine, but surely not
“You lie, you lie!” she screams
'I am me and only me
I am what I am and what I have become”
I feel a trembling in myself
My heart pounds on my chest and echoes in my mind
Beating in tangent to this madness
I scream but I hear nothing
Silence deafening
Confusion
And then a knock at the door
“Abigail, are you ok dear?”
I am Abigail...
