Abcess question shooting oxys

A friend of mine just went to the urgent care for an abcess caused by shooting A green Oxy.


Ive never used oxys.. dont know much about um.. My drug of choice was heroin.

My question is what do you think causes an abcess to form from doing this??


Hope this isnt a dumb question.. Its just bothering me causew she hasnt used in like a year and the first time she used BOOM this.
 
I am no doctor, but I believe that...

Abbesses come usually from missing the shot, completely or partially, and having foreign particles get invaded by your immune system at that area (which is why it swells). Sometimes they go away by themselves, or you can apply a warm compress/heat, soak in mineral salt bath, and massage.

Other times the area becomes more severely infected and you can usually tell bc the color is not improving (IMExp) and you can take an antibiotic, which should be prescribed by a doctor, or else, it can also get drained (by a doctor).

Also, what is a green oxy? What is a green 80 to you may be blue to me. Give manufacturer from the imprint.

Basically, pills have alot fillers that a cotton doesn't filter, which is why shooting most pills w heat and w/o micron wheel filter, means more risk and don't miss!

Did you use the search engine bc it is kind of a basic question to any experienced IV user? (sorry if that sounds mean)

I have had a couple bad abscesses back in the day. One that was the strangest I'll describe. I was shooting dope and the dope was real grainy and kinda sludgy residue left over in the cooker. Anyways I hit the shot, didnt really miss and didnt really think about it untill I woke up the next morning and my whole arm was just in extreme pain. Touching my fingers was intensely painful I knew something wasnt right. Shot more dope told my mother I think I need to go to the hospital and she said just wait till the morning, alright sure whatever.

At this point it was just painful no real inflammation or anything but pain. That next morning I woke up and I had this golfball size lump in the crook of my arm. Panic attack right off the bat, oh fuck. So I go cop a gram of dope and than drive to the hospital. I knew they wouldnt give me anything for the pain and well I needed dope. Probably shot a 1/4 gram before I went in and nurse looked at me and said were going to have to lance it and pack it with gauze. Fine with me just help please. I hear the doctor say no painkillers for him behind the curtain, big deal. So than this nurse brings out this huge horse needle to inject a local to numb me out in my arm.

This was some of the worst pain I have ever felt. I was screaming like a bitch, it fuckin hurt. I only let her do 2 shots before I couldnt take it. Than she took out a razor and sliced the thing open a bunch of gross shit came out and than she had to pack gauze probably with some kinda ointment on it into the hole. Fucking pain. They did a run of IV antibiotics and gave me a script I think for Cephaflex [I forget] strong antibiotic. It went away and healed well but I do have a nice scar in the crook where there is a bb sized area that is missing. You cant really notice it anymore, well I can but others not so much.

I think that one was about 8 yrs ago. That scar will always be there.

What caused it to form? I always surmised some kind of grain got stuck in my vein and created an infection that in 2 days went from nothing to golfball sized.

It's common enough amoung people who shoot pills to get abcesses. Especially if you don't use a micron filter. A good friend of mine got a nasty abcess from shooting kadians (morphine pills) that had to be treated with anti-biotics and had to be drained as well.

I was damn lucky i never got anything worse then cotton fever when i was IVing. I used to shoot dillys and various morphine pills mainly kadians and esslons but on 2 occasions i was dumb enough to shoot mscontins. Those fucking pills are just plain nasty and your looking at a amputation if you inject them for very long. The various morphine pills on the market are murder for your veins and i just used a cotton as a filter and often it was not clear to say the least 8) . Even after missing a shot in my hand (that fucking burned :! ) i never got a abcess.

So i count myself as one lucky bastard in that regard. I knew the risks full well will i was doing it but it mattered little to me at the time. I still remember the second thoughts id always get after seing that dirty sludge left over in the cooker after doing up a morphine shot. I always hesitated abit but once the reality of junk sickness hit me it didnt matter.
