A Wish for Tomorrow
In a Dark room she sits
Flashbacks of those horrifying scenes playing over and over in her mind
Countless beatings summoning empty cries
Her hope diminishes, her spirit dies
A lone tear of pain quickly transforms into a waterfall of despair
Her silent sobs illicit no reply for she wishes not to burden others with her problems
Eyes closed, she envisions the past
Eyes open, she fears the present
The room remains dark, providing her only mask of emotion
And one day she has a vision
A vision of happiness, A vision of a better life
And she turns on the light
And a whole new world of opportunity presents itself
Drying her tear laden face, she stands, faces her new world and walks towards it
Looking back, she laughs and continues forward with a new ray of hope
Forgetting about the past, her eyes focus on the future,

I wrote that for a very good friend of mine who was enduring a level of abuse that no one should ever have to endure. Steph, I'm sorry I saw the things I did... You deserve soo much better... So much better.
