I'm on day 2 of a 48 hour day, as i invoke every now and then to build resilience, honor God, and getting some decisively good thinking done, as well as meditating and training my brain by straining my brain against resistance.
Sleep is extremely important, you should neither sleep too little or too much.
Sleep isn't just resting yourself, its accessing a virtual reality for meaningful dream activities that you need. While you sleep you are being very active in this nonphysical realm, you just usually do not remember what you were doing while asleep to not hinder your daytime functioning.
So you tire your body in the waking outside world and you rest your body in bed while your spirit is furthering its activities undiminished in the inside world of dreams, in whatever way that interacts with he universe at large just like everything does.
A dirt cheap 300 microgram tablet of Melatonin, N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine, and in extreme cases, two, has great effect in readying me to be asleep within the hour of taking it if I have not-too-stark insomnia, it is the brain's natural psychoactive tryptamine to not just induce sleep and improve the quality of the sleep, it has more functionalities.
Taking a low, physiologically aligned dose like 300 micrograms (0.3 mg) of melatonin before bed can gently reinforce your body’s natural circadian rhythm by signaling that it is “biological night,” which can help you fall asleep faster (reduced sleep latency), improve overall sleep efficiency (more time asleep vs. awake in bed), and slightly increase total sleep time, while also promoting a more natural sleep architecture with better regulation of REM and deep sleep cycles; it may reduce nighttime awakenings, improve subjective sleep quality and next-day alertness (especially compared to higher doses that can cause grogginess), support recovery from jet lag or delayed sleep phase patterns, provide mild anxiolytic and calming effects that ease pre-sleep mental arousal, act as a potent antioxidant with neuroprotective properties during sleep, support immune function, help regulate body temperature drop needed for sleep onset, and do all this with a lower risk of side effects like vivid dreams, headaches, or morning drowsiness that are more common at higher doses, essentially working with—rather than overriding—your endogenous melatonin production.
Melatonin can be taken daily but is better taken intermittently, for those individual sleep cycles that need something extra. Think of this natural psychoactive tryptamine before you consider incorporating sleeping pills, a drink or weed for that purpose.
When melatonin is deacetylated into 5-methoxytryptamine (5-MT) in the brain, the resulting molecule behaves like a subtle, fast-acting neuromodulator with a serotonin-like character: it can transiently interact with serotonin receptors (especially 5-HT₁ and 5-HT₂ subtypes), gently nudging neural circuits toward a quieter, more internally oriented state—dampening excessive firing, smoothing emotional tone, and slightly shifting perception inward—while also being rapidly broken down by monoamine oxidase, so its effects are fleeting and tightly contained; rather than producing anything dramatic or psychedelic, 5-MT likely contributes to the fine-tuning of nighttime neurochemistry, adding a soft layer of serotonergic calm and signal modulation that complements melatonin’s broader role in coordinating sleep, helping the brain settle into a stable, low-noise, restorative mode.
As we get older, melatonin decreases, 0.3mg fits the sweet spot that tablets of 1mg, 3mg or even 5 or 10mg overshoot. 300 micrograms is proportional to what the brain supplies to get good sleep going when everything works fine.
But everything to do with sleep, what works for you and what might be a hidden cause of trouble sleeping, the nature of dreams, lucid dreaming, sleep paralysis, straight up astral projection by learning to slip into a dream while wide awake which is Shamanic trance.. Depriving yourself of sleep on the night before your trip to enhance your entheogenic experience of the psychedelic or the dissociative you are preparing to take. Everything sleep and dream - let's discuss it!
