Today I was looking through some old things of mine. I found this sonnet that I wrote for a high school English class a few years back. Although I can't remember all of the specific rules for writing a sonnet, I belive this one follows them pretty closely. If I've made any errors, feel free to let me know. Enjoy.
Deformed and deranged and put on parade
Oddities as entertainment for all
Despite their pain there’s profit to be made
Made to stand up for one more curtain call
Laughing in ignorance below their stage
Outcasts in a world that can’t understand
Isolated inside a social cage
Performing tricks must satisfy demand
Children eat candy and watch the freakshow
Miserable dancers make – up hides the pain
Parents sneer at the acts in the sideshow
Dark carnivals drenched in a cold rain
Twisted hierarchy social gods label
One flaw take your place on top their table
