Hello there this is my first post after reading bluelight obsessively for years...
I have had an opiate addiction for about 3 years. I went to a private psychiatrist and started a suboxone program to quit oxy + hydro. I weaned myself down to such a low dose of the subs that I used practically a crumb every morning = to about 1 mg. I drank heavily though and again sought treatment from the same psych. He had the brilliant idea of using Vivitrol since he happened to have a free one there in the office that I didnt have to pay for. Isnt it expensive? I think he just wanted to see my ass now that I think about it... (croaker much?) So I have the shot and go on my way until.... About 30 min later I began a VIOLENT precipitated withdrawal. I asked beforehand and was told that vivitrol would not knock the bupe off the receptors. I was on such a low dose of subs that he figured it wouldnt matter, I could use both. WRONG... I believe that he did have a little foresight because he sent me home with a sample of Zyprexa. Useless shit. I finished all 7 in about 2hrs with no effect. He finally had a script of Ativan called in and that knocked me in and out for about 3 days of hellish forced withdrawal. Scarry as all get out because you cannot reverse this withdrawal since the huge shot of naltrexone is there to stay. I overdosed on my subs trying to stop the wds and have no memory of it.. Thank god. Now that i'm off the opiates and have the vivitrol in my system I freakin hate it! I have had night sweats every night now for a month. The shot is officially over today and last night I was still sweating thru at least two pj sets. I am already setting up my next appt. to see the real croaker who doles me out oxys... so vivitrol didnt work for opiate cravings but I am officially alcohol free and have no desire to drink. Not sure that precip. withdrawal was worth it though. I'm lost here now. I'm off subs and maybe I shouldnt be.
Point being Really really really make sure before you mess with ANYTHING containing naltrexone if you are on ANY opiate no matter the dose or drug. Doctors are not always right. Precipitated withdrawal is the closest you can come to hell..
