A "Recovery Bill of Rights"

Hi all,

I thought some of you might find this interesting. A "Recovery Bill of Rights" from Faces and Voices of Recovery (a group I hadn't heard of).

This is a pretty strong (positive) statement as I see it, as it emphasizes the individual seeking recovery has to be an integral part of any decision making regarding their personal recovery processes. Also, that there is no one correct path to recovery.

I especially like # 3 and #6 and #9.

I'm fond of 1, 5, and 7. One is huge, if we're constantly judged for our actions in the past (by ourselves as well as others), recovery becomes infinitely more difficult and is looked on more negatively.

To anyone who holds power and heart is still trying to do "the right thing".. I hope you cant sleep until number ten becomes a reality. Destroying or permanently damaging a drug users/addicts life in the name of saving it is WRONG AND IMMORAL. A convicted addict or drug user can climb out of addiction or use, but currently, there is no way for a human being to rid themselves of the damage the system you support inflicts.. remember the reason people use and become addicted to drugs is an attempt to be happy, so please design a reasonable path, for those who loose their way, in the "per suite of happiness" to be able to rejoin the lives they not only deserve, but have earned.

I thought the same thing, so I looked at what they make. It seems they're all non-addictive OTC drugs and household products. It would seem a bit more disingenuous if it was by, say Purdue.
