A Moment of Prayer

I have wondered for several years now
About the meaning of my life
All is uncertain - all is topsy turvey
I'm strong but I'm weak
I'm winning but I'm beat.
But one sure thing is that I love you Lord
Feeling your love beaming down on me
But sometimes I wish I could see
Just what it is you want me to be.

I know I'm intelligent
I know I am good
I know that I love people as I should.
I help needy people whenever I can
And I know to turn the other cheek to my fellow man.
But Lord, where do I fit into your Master Plan?

Am I following the path laid out for me?
You try to guide me along the way, but I stray
And I know that I'm sinning every day
Why do you stay?
Why did you make me the lucky one
When there are so many more deserving than I?

I fall and you twist me to land on my feet
You never let my spirit admit defeat
You've given me character, even made me quite sweet
And I fear not the day when we both shall meet
And I can thank you then for shining down from above
I feel your love.

You've sheltered me, taken me under your wing,
You've shielded me from all the poo that life will bring.
Please continue to give me strength,
All through my life, whatever the length.
Please continue to walk beside me
Warm the chill that has grown inside me
I'll try to be true, I'll try to be good
But you know me - do you think I could?

But I love you Lord
And over all
While I'm following you
I'm walking tall.
