"A hit of..."

I've noticed an annoying and increasing trend recently with psychedelics and entactogens mostly. Many people who sell or consume these drugs have begun adressing everything as, "a hit." It bothers me because there is no consistency in the actual meaning even within a certain drug. Now, I understand using it for acid where a hit might be a tab just because of how old the usage is. Why spread this to all other drugs though. I've heard ppl say a hit of "molly" i've heard ppl say a hit of "x" a hit of 2Cx and even a hit of dmt. I don't get it. When i mockinly ask ppl what that actually is they glare at me or act surprised. THe thing is though since dosage with these drugs isn't linear it even if they were any type of consitent dosage units it would be annoying but when ppl are giving or taking rc's active in the mg range why do people feel comfortable adressing it as such. I don't get it.

The way I see it hit is just another name for a dose, not a unit of measurement.
Why is it ok to say a hit of acid when the actual dose on a blotter could vary as much as a hit of any other drug?
Anyone that buys and consumes a hit of a potent research chemical without weighing it is an idiot.
How about "Hits from the Bong" is this acceptable usage?
What an odd thing to get wound up about in a country that actually uses terms like "rolling" and "frying", now they are annoying :)

I'd be annoyed with you as well, if I'm passing out hits of 2C-I and you mock me and ask what a "hit" is, then you're not getting anything. A hit is the same as a dose, it is whatever measurement of whatever drug you are consuming.

Don't be so pedantic.

lol seriously.. maybe if youre not condescending about it youll get a better response from people.

A hit of e is a hit of e. I mean I have no idea how much mdma is in the damn tablet so I'll either call it a hit or a tablet or a pill of ecstasy. I mean really WTF else should it be called? I'll agree though when working with a known amount of substance to say a "hit" is kind of retarded at least when it comes to rc's as you should always know the dose on those. But really man why does it bother you so much? I mean it's just a term for dose really jeeze. Maybe you need a "hit" of something to chill out dude haha.

I would disagree somewhat with the example you give there, personally. "Hits" of acid or ecstasy pills don't generally vary significantly enough to be a concern, in my experience. With 2C-x and other RCs that can be extremely dose sensitive I want to know the precise mg amount of whatever that substance is - the dose/response curve is too steep and the effects any given dose from one individual to the next vary so much I would probably turn down your 2C-I "hits" if you couldn't give me a good idea of the actual dose weight. Maybe I'm being too pedantic too but I don't like nasty surprises and I don't like disappointment - it's always best to know how much of whatever you are taking.

That is foolish, he has a point. Now you might be a mighty 2C-I master, but I think anybody you are dosing with hallucinogens should be able to know the most correct weight that you know if they ask. (I understand the idea of an abbreviation or nickname, but don't put your ego on it.)

I always thought of a hit being to take a toke or a drag on a spliff. Maybe its a yank thing?
