I think they were referring to fentanyl. A "fentdope" outbreak occurred about 2 years ago and a lot of the press jumped on it calling it "synthetic heroin." I seriously doubt that that was a factor in this.
 
going into seizures, sounds like a psychedelic stimulant of some sort. :\

Its such a shame that people try sell something as powdered acid or people are misinformed too what it was, are there no updates on toxicoligy reports?

I just so upset that another death as a result of snorting an unknown amount of an unknown powder :(

^ and nobody tries to give away all their possessions the next day unless theyve had some kind of psychedelic/eye-opening experience....
 
Well, MTA & the 2-CT series are MAOIs and can cause serotonin syndrome. The details of his behavior look suspiciously similar to the other deaths caused by the series.
Well, if it IS one of those, then the toxicology results will determine what killed the poor fellow...

Fentanyl and it's derivatives(which are fully synthetic opioids) are sometimes referred to as synthetic Heroin. They are sometimes mixed in with normal Heroin to potentiate it and make more profit(since Fentanyls are cheaper), and Fentanyl and it's derivatives have rarely been sold as single active drugs, cut with large amounts of sugars yielding a very powerful and cheap, white Heroin look-a-like. Only problem is Fentanyl is 40x more potent than pure Heroin, and if it isn't properly mixed with the Heroin or the cut it's sold with, well you can guess what happens .. Heroin i semi-synthetic by the way, it's made from a natural opioid, morphine.

That was my thought too.

Also from the sound of it I doubt he had taken a small measured amount of the drug first to see what it was like. He could have divided up the total amount or taken a quarter of it and unknowingly taken a high dose of it and then snorted it.

I feel bad for his mom and family. :(
