lacey, perhaps she's like me and has a hard time returning things on time? either way, don't call people names, mmkay? :)

oh and you might want to spell your insults correctly, they're more effective that way ;)

i'M reading The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test right now, and it's awesome! You should read it if you haven't already have. It's about the hippies in the 60's with Ken Kesey and loootttsss of trippin out!! ;)

i'm trying to remember what books i was reading and enjoying at that age, and since it was my final years of school, it's kinda easy. some have already been mentioned but i figure the more mentions the better!

the handmaid's tale - margaret atwood
to kill a mockingbird - harper lee
brave new world - aldous huxley
1984 - george orwell
utopia - thomas moore
april fools day - bryce courtney
anything by chuck palahnuik

those are books that i'de pretty much recommend to anyone, but i guess it does kinda depend on your tastes.

Neil Gaiman. If you like a little magic, a little bizarre, and funny. try "Neverwhere", "American Gods" or "Stardust" (I think it's called)

White Oleander was also good, as someone mentioned.

Don't use your age as an excuse for avoiding a challenge. I was probably smarter (at least in terms of drive and raw brain power) when I was 17 than I am now.

it's funny, when I was younger (10-14) I was reading books that I should have been reading at this age (20). But I haven't progressed much further and I'm still stuck on those kind of books.

Ohhh! I think you would like Disco Bloodbath (though I believe the title is now changed to Party Monster) by James St. James. It's much better than the movie. Drugs, murder, bitchy gay men... what's not to love? ;)

Check out Tom Robbins, Cormac McCarthy, Kurt Vonnegut, Bukowski. You know when I was in hs, Bukowski might of been too much, but Herman Hesse was real nice. And Robbins, hes one of the best.

the best books that i've ever read?

nausea - jean-paul sartre
the blind assassin - margaret atwood
the outsider - albert camus
the naked lunch - william s. burroughs
on the road - jack kerouac
fear & loathing in las vegas - hunter s. thompson
pride and prejudice - jane austen
wuthering heights - emily bronte
lolita - vladimir nabokov

they're what immediately spring to mind - you really can't go wrong with any of those except for perhaps nausea or the outsider (if you actively dislike existentialism) or the naked lunch (if you're particularly conservative). but i'd recommend them all, really.

Dan Brown- -Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons

I'll second that, but read angels and demons first. Even though it was writting after the da vinci code, the story is still before it.

A very funny book everyone should read: Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. It is absolutely hilarious.

I dunno - I got about halfway through this one and just couldn't finish it. Some parts were funny, but most of the time I found myself saying, "What the HELL?!" To each his own.
