I want to make it very clear I am not swimming as that is against the BLUA.

So a good friend of mine has psoriasis that seems to be getting worse. I think it is due to stress.

This person has tried a lot of different things and I really feel for this person.

This person hardly had any a few years ago and none when I first met this person. This person has had a rather rough go at it in life and has an awful living situation and I really would like to help this person.

So far what has been tried would be:

Steroids which did not go well and this person is unwilling to consider it

B-100 complex which works great for my skin and health but has minimal results for this person

Cocoa butter, Eucerin, Auphora, Topical creams, however this person has not tried Triamcinolone or Nystatin

Tanning beds do work well for this person, but there is a lack of funds

So anyways I was thinking maybe laser treatment or oatmeal baths would help.

For me personally I found that B 100 complex, cocoa butter, cetaphil facial soap, sunscreen, oat meal baths, axe body wash, shaving my arms and pubes, and baby powder were the key to perfect skin. I really doubt I need all that stuff, but I am very self obsessed and I like to take care of my body and pamper myself in terms of health, skin care, hair care, and whatnot.

Any advice would be appreciated.

This person finally has health insurance and access to medical treatment, so it would be good to send this person in the right direction.

If he can't afford tanning beds, why not just expose himself to sunlight?
He should seek medical treatment from a doctor, and I suggest he mentions calcipotriol to them.
I hope that helped somehow.

Is Calcipotriol a prescription drug or OTC?

Tanning beds seem to work much better for this person than the sun.

I was thinking maybe fluorescent UV sun/plant growing lights would work.

I already have the workshop light holders and things to suspend them and really do not need them atm, so all that would be needed would be the lights which are not that expensive.

This person has no money at all and cannot afford to go to a tanning bed atm. I wonder if Medicaid would cover that.

Also I wonder if Medicaid would help with laser treatment.

I think the best advice would be to get them to a dermatologist. Psoriasis is not just a cosmetic disease and needs to be managed.

Calcipotriol is rx in USA. Brand name is Dovonex.

DM, try to see if olive oil or omega fatty acids help. Simply warm up olive oil and apply a little bit to the affected area and see if it soothes the skin.

As for the fish oil, I have read thattalung it orally plus applying a small amount to the affected area is effective in treatment of psoriasis. If these help, it will be more cost effective and will save up money.

Of course I have olive oil for cooking.

As far as omega fatty acids, you mean this person should eat more seafood or take a supplement?

Fish oil is rather cheap so that could not hurt to try.

This person has health insurance now for the first time in about ten years and has an appointment with a dermatologist this week, so I am hoping that will sort things out a bit.
