A Bad Trip Cure

Hello, i have a question for some people that are experienced trippers. A friend and i are having a discussion. We are both familiar with tripping, and we arent really in dire need for this answer, wed just like to know your guys' oppinion based on personal experience, cause people on this forum seem very knowledgeable.

Q: What is better to stop a bad acid/ shroom trip; haldol or a fast acting benzo like xanax or ativan?

I've only had one trip so horrible that I thought my life would end right then and there. I took .5 mgs of Xanax and it was smooth sailing from then on. I really couldn't recommend anything better for a bad trip.

I took some klonopin on the tail of what started to be a really nice trip (1/8 of mushrooms) and ended up being super bad, ultimate depression sort of thing. Just the fact that I took something made me feel better right away, because I knew it was going to get better, and by the time it kicked in I was able to sleep it off. I would recommend Xanax over longer onset or acting benzos, but it's not necessary.

thanks for the help on that guys. Yesi took gave taken xanax during a bad trip to ease it. But ive used haloperidol. Has anyone use THAT to calm a bad trip? Cause thats what im basically asking; does it work> haha

If the trip is bad enough someone with a tranquiliser gun might be handy - see trainwrecks in erowid trip reports ;)

Personally benzos have been the only thing I've ever taken to ease trip anxiety maybe only a handful of times - although i do use them to get to sleep at the tail end as I'm prone to staying up all night which doesn't fit my familys routine particularly well.

While I'm not an experienced tripper I'd recommend trying to work through it yourself. Yes it can be very hard an unenjoyable, but if you learn to beat negative thoughts and feelings by the power of your mind alone, bad trips can quickly become a thing of the past as you will forever know how to beat them.

I've personally only had 2 "bad trips", both of which I brought myself out of myself. The first one was on 4-AcO-DMT, the experience wasn't negative or bad as such but I got stuck in a 7-8 hour thought loop that felt like it would never end, it was very scary, eventually I just let myself go with it, and finally broke out of it.. when I did I felt amazing and the last 2 hours of the trip were worth all the fear I endured for those ~7 hours. My first 2C-E trip the other day started out bad, I initially dosed too low and there was an intense dysphoria, I actually felt very depressed, so I just took my mind off it by doing something creative - http://www.neave.com/imagination/ in particular, along with some cheery music. Soon I was really enjoying the low dose experience, comfortably enough to up my dose and have an amazing unforgettable time :)

Hope this helps, also, of the two I imagine a fast acting benzo would be best. But in my opinion, a bad trip means there is something the trip is pointing out, something bad about you or your life that you need to change/learn from, even if the entire experience is scary and unenjoyable, learn something from it so that it has been useful to you, and your next experience will almost certainly be very enjoyable.

Yes, haloperidol should work really strongly because it's an antipsychotic... antipsychotics will actually stop a trip in its tracks. Benzos reduce anxiety and calm you down but the trip is just muted. Personally I don't recommend fucking with antipsychotics unless you have to because they have a whole list of nasty side effects and possible damage, whereas benzos are much lighter and safer and will still allow you to wind your trip down to some extent rather than just cutting it off abruptly.

Antipsychotics have got to be the worst drug, I would never recommend taking those to end a trip, unless someone was just absolutely, freaking the fuck out.

I'd go with the benzos 99.99% of the time.

1. Xanax IR (Instant release)
2. Klonpin Sub linguals (just cause they're damn cool and tasty, and klonpin is great)

Haloperidol wont work as its an old antipsychotic without 5HT2A affinity, only the new generation antipsychotics will work.
