9 Terribly Disturbing Things About Electronic Cigarettes

Nicotine is the fucking devil. I'm so glad to not smoke.

I smoke and i like it... i dont care all the people whining about how its bad its my body and i fuck it up the way i feel like and the people saying it smells like shit lol it smells less like shit than most peoples body odor so yea. And Ecigs are bullshit, i need my real smoke not a wannabe plastic piece of shit

I was taking the train today and heard the announcement "just a reminder, the smoking of cigarettes and e-cigarettes is banned on the train platform" so it looks like there are indeed some regulations on where you are allowed to smoke them. I'm not sure why they did that, maybe so that the police don't have to deal with distinguishing between the two, although it's not that difficult, but I guess it may be from afar and we all know they don't want to have to waste their energy walking 50 feet over to a person to find out.

I think it's more to do with the fact they look like the real thing;:I receive filthy looks when I use them in shops. There's a real stigma with smoking now; it's a less socialy acceptable habit. I'm hoping for stiff quality control regs, you know? A lot of these things are knocked out from china, or god-knows-where.

In the UK smoking is banned in pubs, restaurants etc and the workplace.
When the smoking ban came in at my place of work a smoking shelter was built outside as smoking in the canteen was no longer allowed.
These E-Cigs state they are ok to use in pubs etc as no second hand smoking occurs.
When folk at work started using their E-Cigs in the work canteen they were told that they were not allowed to 'smoke' them inside and had to use the outside smoking shelter.
So those people trying to give up smoking using the E-Cigs are forced to stand outside with people smoking actual cigarettes so they are still going to be breathing in second hand smoke.
The law needs to be clear on whether these E-Cigs can be smoked inside or not.

I read an article that said that a lot more high school students are starting to use e-cigarettes, and they fear that they are like the gateway to regular cigarettes. I guess that's a legitimate concern, but if they are going to start smoking regardless it's better that they start on e-cigs.

I think if these students were to try the real thing however, they may not like them in comparison to e cigs; the smoke from tobacco would be very harsh in comparison, not to mention it can make you dizzy and nauseous if you're not used to them. Anyway, I imagine there was a reason they chose e-cigs in the first place; we're all too aware of the health concerns of tobacco these days.

I've always found the gateway drug idea to be a flawed theory, I'm referring specificaly to heroin addicts. The logic goes that because the majority of them
experimented with cannabis, then using cannabis could lead to using harder drugs. Just because all heroin addicts have used cannabis, it's illogical to assume that all pot smokers will become heroin addicts.

One disturbing thing is that the concentration of nicotine in those bottles, varies massively from the stated amount.

I have read a study where triplicate samples of several brads of refills were obtained and assayed, and they varied at least theefold with the claimed concentraton.

Moreover, the E-cig I had/have, has a really dangerous nicotine reservoir, in that it just comes off with the bare minimum of force, distributing nicotine everywhere.

This is exactly what I'm talking about: the quality control regs are just not there. Because of this, you are of course going to get defective, or even dangerous, products on the market.

This is very bad news, because it means a possibly far less harmful alternative to tobacco now has uncertain or harmful connotations in the eyes of the media, the medical establishment, and society at large.

These fears could easily be exploited by the tobacco industry in any future attempt to ban e-cigs. We all know you don't need to prove something is harmful to have it banned; you just need to prove a "reasonable doubt". I'll use cannabis laws as an example here.

I roll my own smokes and use American Spirit Organic tobacco. It's still smoking, but at least there are no added chemicals from the plant to the cig. They burn a lot longer, too, and don't leave that nasty smell on your fingers like Marlboros do.

Cry me a river.

Right now I've been starting to smoke tobbaco again, I use bayside pipe tobbaco in my rollups; it's very coarse and dark (almost black) with a strong taste. I'm already noticing my lungs are worsening (not to mention I'm spending a lot!), so I'm trying to smoke my e cig again.

I've never tried organic tobacco, Just A Guy, but this year I will be attempting to grow my very own tobbaco.I'm quite excited about this, (I love gardening), so my fingers are crossed it all goes well.
