Entering its 4th year, 88 continues a history of expanding FORWARD Festival’s scope and opportunities, while paying homage to its roots. Artistically, FORWARD Festival 2011 is inspired by the experience that occurs when the individual and urbanity interact, when the tested and proven meets the fresh and new. Musically, this unfolds in the resurgence of soul echoed in every genre of electronic music in 2010 by urban producers around the world – from ambient drone to Drum and Bass and Dubstep. At FORWARD Festival attendees will enjoy the sounds of mentors who've paved the way featured alongside the brightest upstarts carrying the flame today. Visually, the continued emergence of 3D and the overarching umbrella of experiential, instantaneous and interactive experiences was unavoidable. We lived this reality out in our city day to day, surrounded by our friends, colleagues and partners in crime who consistently impress, inspire and enlighten. At FORWARD Festival these themes will occur and be expressed through installations, workshops, and shows.
The electronic music and visual experience that occurs when individual and urbanity, proven and new, interact will be explored via light and sound, online, in print, and throughout Washington DC, leading up to and culminating in FORWARD Festival 2011. The first representation can be found in the official teaser video: http://vimeo.com/channels/forwarddc
