I've been clean 6 1/2 days now, most of the physical symptoms are gone except the worst and that's the stomach pain and insomnia .I woke up this mourning after tossing and turning for 5 hours and still didn't sleep I just had my eyes closed , to stomach pains. I called into work it was no way I was going to make it through a 1 1/2 hour sales meeting this way. Through my withdrawl I've only taken an herbal called calm support which has Passion flower and valerian in it . I also took lope(8mg total ) the first day and that's it . I'm so scared of taking any other meds at this point because when I'm done I want to be done ,but at the same time I'm seriously considering going to the doc and getting a sleep aid any advice ?

have you considered doing some exercise like running to aid your sleep? or maybe some melatonin? (or both)

why are you scared to take meds? if you think you wouldn't be able to take them as prescribed and that you'd abuse them IMHO it just isn't worth it, I know it's hard but try to wait it out and you'll be fine and dandy soon :)

Thanks for the reply im just so done with meds thats why I don't want to take anything, also I dont wanna have to taper off something extra, but my day got a lot better im fine now I just need to be prepared for bad nights and slow m ournings for 2 weeks

Try Benadryl for sleep. May help you a bit.

Other than that - I really sympathize with you. As a sufferer of insomnia, I know first hand just how painful getting no sleep is. It feels like purgatory. You are trapped between a state of being so tired, that you're not really awake, but you can't sleep either so you're not asleep. It's pure hell and I went through it for years...

I totally sympathize. Im about 35 days off opiates and finally this week had two pretty good days in a row which hasn't happened yet. It's a hard hard battle but they say it'll be worth it so hang in there. I will if u do : )

If Benadryl doesn't work, you could always try doxylamine succinate. The sleep will come back. Did you have sleeping issues before you started using? I sure as hell did. In fact, some of my earliest childhood memories are of me telling myself to "change the channel" which was essentially child speak for "slow the fucking mind down and sleep". My ADD doesn't help with this.

It will get better though, and if you are like many addicts your usage will likely get worse if you continue.

Im at the end of day 9 the last two nights I've taken benadryl (the recommend dose) it knocks me out for at least 5 hours. But I have a question how long does it take before taking it becomes a problem

Benadryl isn't addictive. And trust me - I TRIED being addicted to Benadryl. It almost wasn't possible.

I've done detoxes completely bareback, some forced and some because I wanted to just be clean, and detoxes using meds.

My experience is that using medication to aid the detox process is far more sensible if it's used as it should be. There's no point being in pain if you don't have to be, there's no rush to be completely clean. Remember that you're getting clean to regain control of your life, not so you can say (to someone else or yourself) that you're clean. I can relate to that feeling of just wanting to be able to say that I'm clean but really it can be counter productive if it's making things worse for you. If medication can aid you in the process then you shouldn't feel ashamed or scared of using it, just make sure you do so responsibly.:) That's all just my opinion though obviously.

I sure as hell know I'm going to be using all the meds I can to aid me in my next detox, and if that means it takes a bit longer to be able to say I'm drug free then so be it. Great work on getting as far as you have unaided though.

Benadryl isn't addictive. If you are talking about opiates, there is no hard answer for when it "crosses the line". It varies from person to person and body to body. I will point out that if you are struggling to quit and are here asking these questions then these very well may point towards dependency issues.

Be kind to yourself during this process, easier said then done I know. Anyways, I am still detoxing a bit myself. Also, you might want to read up on the mental aspects of post-acute withdrawal as well as PAWS. What are your intentions? Are you trying to stop for good, unsure of it or on a set break.
