“Spasming my way to Befuddlement with 5Methoxy-N,N-Diisopropyltryptamine”
by Bip Norris
At 7mg of 5MeO–DiPT I had wondered if it upset my stomach but otherwise it had been very mild and pleasant and might have some promise. A bit naïve in those days, although it’s a fair jump, I thought 13mg (+/-) would be a good dose. This is an account of my second go as I remember it.
I was sitting on the sofa feeling uncomfortable from the cold rough metallic come up. Suddenly it seemed some kind of mental whirlwind went off – I put on some System of a Down – there was definitely some tonal distortion. I since have found this a bad compound for music for this very reason, but on this occasion I loved it’s energy in a mindlessly enthusiastic way – probably any loud, fast, rhythmic music would have done. I felt half crazed and rushed to and fro unable to keep still, though tethered by headphones.
The muscles in my body, in particular in my legs, kept clenching and spasming. I rushed up and defecated. I lay on the floor shaking and laughing then ran a bath to try to soothe my twitching body. Afterwards, wrapped in a towel, I sat on the floor – I suddenly felt really gone – everything about me seemed normal but momentarily my mind seemed to go in all confused directions at once. Other than some ‘shininess’ there were very few visual clues to tell me I was tripping. I felt quite good, but going down stairs I suddenly felt a huge thick mental block; a stoned inability to connect thoughts, a clogging standstill that was very unpleasant.
I tried to lay on the floor but felt restless – the paper of the lampshade looked quite trippy but the light was too bright, so I got up and rushed around and changed the light for various different colour low wattage bulbs – each time lying down and jumping up again; the room was finally bathed in orange light and I couldn’t lay still anyhow and was up darting about. It seemed very tactile – body based, certainly it wasn’t reflective or spiritual. Soon I went to make a stir-fry – I felt very happy – the food was good and unlike most related compounds I felt quite hungry and enjoyed it. The effects now were the wobbling ‘body buzz’ and a stoned feeling and I was developing a headache.
Gradually the drug wore off but actually after 13hrs it was still stopping me from sleeping and although I found some sort of catharsis in the hyper stimulated befuddlement on this occasion, the dose was basically too high and this could have been a very painful, uncomfortable, borderline toxic experience.
I tried 5Meo-DiPT many more times, mostly at or below10mg. Although it isn’t very evident in the above report one of the most consistent effects was acute and often prolonged diarrhoea, flatulence and colonic spasm. This seems specific to this compound and was exhibited in a sizable minority, often in extremis; this in itself being fully sufficient justification for terminating future experimentation; one account came back to me of a gig ruined due to constant and desperate recourse to the miserable and inadequate club toilet. Another technical note: mydrasis seems much less pronounced than with most materials.
When pressed for a description of the effects, one woman of my acquaintance who enjoyed it many times offered that the drug made her feet feel extremely pleasant perhaps near erotic.
In summary, this is an uncomplicated ‘stoning’ drug with possible recreational value for those not afflicted with its gastric effects and bodyload, especially at lower doses, but is of relatively low virtue outside of this.
